Official announcement here it comes with 2 controllers. Get your pre order in now lol.
EDIT: I hope the controllers are longer than 2.5 feet like the NES classic

Whoop de doo. While I love the SNES, I can't get excited by another console that I have to assume will be woefully undersupplied and then discontinued before 10% of the demand is met. I don't have time to wait at stores hours before they open so this is basically a nonproduct for me.
Plus I decided last December that the next Nintendo product I buy will be the NES Classic, at retail price, off a store shelf. Since that seems impossible I'm basically done with Nintendo.
I'm so mad about them discontinuing the Classic they way they did that I'd rather light money on fire than use it to buy a Nintendo product right now.

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to do whatever I can to get one at retail. I dont camp out at stores but FINAL FANTASY III, EARTHBOUND and SECRET OF MANA. Those three alone would be enough but that list of games kinda doesn't have a dud in the lot.
I'm also hoping that my 15year old will see me obsessively playing FFIII and get interested.

This. Unfortunately.

Based on the previous release, I would expect the resale price on ebay to top $3k within a week. Though it is interesting that they are including Star Fox 2 as one of the titles.
*goes back to playing Secret of Mana on Retropi*
As someone with a RetroPi build, I also have a hard time getting excited about trying to spend $80 on a retro console that only comes with 21 games... if you're lucky enough to get one.

Interesting. I already have most of those games for (non-mini) SNES. I'm missing Super Punch Out, but I don't think it's my kind of game.
I feel very differently about this one than I do about the mini-NES. See, even though I have a (non-mini) NES, and even though it still works, NES cartridges are really freaking unreliable. NES games which have save features are even worse--I remember giving up on the original Final Fantasy after the 10th time my save file spontaneously disappeared (I eventually completed the game on Wii Virtual Console once that became a thing. I also played the Dawn of Souls remake, but that's really not the same as the original due to the massively decreased difficulty).
On the other hand, my Super NES still works, and works more reliably that most modern consoles, so I don't have much of an incentive to get the mini SNES except as a possible collector's item. That said, I'm not necessarily the target audience: tracking down a used SNES and all of those games in their original form would be quite expensive for someone who doesn't have them, and this looks like it includes a lot of classics that are well worth playing.
I hope they release Star Fox 2 in some other form, though.
