I was just pondering...can a buckler or shield be made with special materials like cold iron and such. I want to give my rondelero swashbuckler a cold iron buckler to use the buckler bash with. i couldn't find it in the CRB....was it added later?

Pretty sure bucklers are listed as metal, somewhere. Light and Medium shields have both wooden and metal profiles. Tower Shields are only wood, unless you get specific magical versions (or get into long debates on these forums..). You can also get Light and Medium Shields made of Dragonhide (I believe they use the metal profile for this).

That said, each special material has different requirements. I don't think Cold Iron can be made into armor. If you can bash with a shield, you could count it as a weapon and make it into a Cold Iron Weapon that way (don't see why not), but only when your able to count it as a weapon, so you couldn't purchase it in cold iron before you were able to use it as a weapon, as silly as that is.

As far as I have ever known, cold iron armor is allowed. There just aren't many occasions when such armor is worth the extra expense.

According to the GameMastery Guide bucklers can be metal or wood, but in the CRB they're only metal. During a discussion on this very topic many years ago the PFS stance became, essentially, "since nothing from the GMG is legal, bucklers can only be made of metal".

I can dig up the quote if someone really wants me to.

Not sure why it would be a problem, or why you'd want it, but PFS requires a specific listed cost for any item you want. So, you'd have to find rules that explain the cost of Cold Iron Armor, or you couldn't use it. Kinda petty, but that is the PFS system.

Just like how you can't, in PFS, get any of the Eastern Armors in Dragonhide (because Dragonhide has a specific list of items that can be made from it in the description, and that list predates Ultimate Combat...).
