Hey guys, i need to remove my doubts here.
Situation in short, infested condition for the paladin.
His LoH is a swift action upon himself, we all know.
His mercy to remove diseases mentions the LoH 'acts as remove disease'.
Would this mean the swift becomes a standard action, as per the spell's casting time, or remain a swift?
Thanks in advance.

The ability say "The paladin's lay on hands ability also acts as remove disease, using the paladin's level as the caster level." and "Each mercy adds an effect to the paladin's lay on hands ability. Whenever the paladin uses lay on hands to heal damage to one target, the target also receives the additional effects from all of the mercies possessed by the paladin. A mercy can remove a condition caused by a curse, disease, or poison without curing the affliction. Such conditions return after 1 hour unless the mercy actually removes the affliction that causes the condition."
So, as I see it, you are using the lay on hands ability with all of its rules. The paladin isn't casting a spell, he is using his lay of hands ability.
As every mercy he has is is always automatically applied, if a mercy that use a spell as a reference had the same casting time of the spell taking some mery would heavily weaken the paladin lay of hands.

The Lay On Hands ability has its own action required to activate it, just because it refers to a spell to determine its effects doesn't mean it takes a Standard Action to use it.
There are numerous effects that refer to spells that supersede the description of casting said spell, such as the Boots of Speed, so if they did require additional actions, those items would be broken and obviously have an unintended functionality.
Needless to say, you're freaking out over nothing. Unless your GM is a giant dick who hates Paladins (in which case you were screwed the second you decided to make a Paladin, and I'd suggest you run away from that table ASAP), you shouldn't be expected to sacrifice both a Swift and a Standard Action on yourself, or even worse yet, two Standard Actions if using it on somebody else.
