Triggers, Scourges, and Traders.
Trigger is a trait you'll see on lots of cards. It is actually highlighted red to draw your attention to it (though check the FAQ for two cards that missed that trait). This trait goes hand in hand with powers that happen when you examine them. That means things like Augury or Scrying can actually cause some powers to activate. Note that you are only examining if you are told to examine. Exploring isn't examining and searching isn't examining.
Scourges are a type of support card. They do nasty things to you. They get displayed and have a negative impact. It could be that your hand size is reduced by 1. It could be that you randomly bury cards from your discard pile. But whatever it is, it won't be fun. Lots of cards will inflict them upon you. Sometimes you will be told to "suffer a scourge". In this case, there is a scourge table (the evil twin to S&S's plunder table). You roll on the scourge table to see which scourge you get.
Traders are another new type of support card. They let you turn in the stuff you acquire for other stuff they offer. There is a Bazaar card that lists which traders you have access too. Like the even better twin of the Fleet card from S&S, you'll get rewarded with new traders as you progress. After a scenario, each character can select 1 trader. You then draw cards for the trader's "wares" that are on offer. Characters can then visit the traders and turn other cards in for those cards. Check the rules for a more detailed explanation of what cards they can offer and what cards you can trade in.

Mummy's Mask has a demo scenario as well already included in the box, if you want to run that. It tells you exactly what cards to set up and such to run a short demo scenario that illustrates the ropes. It isn't sanctioned for organized play though, unlike the Season of the Shackles demo script (and I don't think Season of Plundered Tombs has a demo script, but I could be wrong).

One other thing I like to highlight is the theme of precision in MM. There are a bunch of cards that care about how much you beat a check by. Lots of them will do good things if you beat it by a certain range (see the Mining Construct from the demo), and some will do bad things if you overkill them.

This is slightly advanced, and I don't think it will come up in a demo, but who knows:
If you examine multiple cards:
-- Perform any actions specified by a trigger as soon as you examine the card with the trigger, except:
-- If the consequences of a trigger require you to shuffle the deck you are examining, do not shuffle it until you have put all the examined cards back.
So for instance:
-- You Scry for monsters;
-- The first card you examine is a monster with a trigger that causes you to encounter him;
-- You encounter that monster and fail to defeat him;
-- You then examine the next two cards -- say they are non-Trigger monsters;
-- You can put the last two monsters on top or at the bottom of the deck;
-- But then you have to shuffle the monster you failed to defeat into the deck.
