On the Carowyn Manor map, there are three sets of stairs, one up, and two down.
One up is obvious, 2nd floor. But there's only one basement. So...
1. Which set of stairs lead to the basement?
2. Where do the other set go?
Thoughts?
I think its a great chance to add to the Manor, but I don't want to put in tons of work, since I'm prepping on Roll20.

I assumed that the one in the servant's quarters in the southern building goes to some kind of cellar or something for the servants specifically.
I just assumed that the one in the house was to the one where Ausio is hiding otherwise he would have likely snuck away in the last few days. He also mentions that he was able to hear shuffling feet overhead and Jolistina's cackling so it makes sense that the stairs in the room next to the dining hall are the ones that lead to his hiding place.
My party saved him last night he was obscenely dramatic, dismissive and classist. One of my favorite NPC's I've run so far. (Despite being in a great fugue due to the death of his wife he had the wherewithall to stop and ask how aged the brandy was that they gave him to calm his nerves.) :)

I like the 2nd story idea, from you, Lakesidefantasy, either way. If we end up playing this that's what I'll do. Not that it matters in the long-term, I just don't want my players going "where do these stairs go?" with my reply along the lines of "um, I don't really know."

The stairs in area E1a lead up to the second floor (to area E2a).
The stairs in the side room between areas E1c and E1e lead down to the cellar (area E3).
We usually do try to make the shape and positioning of the stairs sync up better than this, but sometimes things slip through; in any event, you can assume that, just as the stairs in area E1a take a 90 degree turn with a five-foot-square landing in the middle of that turn, so too do the stairs leading down to the cellar (which is then located, therefore, roughly under the southern central portion of the house). (It was a bit too difficult to add the landing in the cellar map, since doing so would have obscured some of the actual cellar from view, so we chose to omit it).
The flight of stairs shown in the servant's quarters actually lead up to a second floor above where the actual beds of the servants are located, but we didn't put that on the map because, as mentioned in the text, that portion of the grounds is abandoned.
