I ordered "The Inner Sea World Guide" from Chapters Indigo Canada, and it arrived today, I picked it up and brought it home.
I examined it and it looked to be in good shape, besides there being a few scuffs on the front cover. I then took the time to break the book in, just like I always do when I get one. I sit the book on it's spine, and let the front cover fall, then let the back back cover fall. I then begin by alternating back and forth between each page, pressing them down lightly as I go... I took a couple of pictures and wanted to know what you guys think about them, should I be concerned?. My other Pathfinder RPG hardcover's don't have that separation where the "headband" is.

Here's a direct link to each picture, the link above doesn't seem to work.

I've uploaded the images to Google Photos, that should solve that problem.
I'll have to take another picture, because the front cover is also curved and doesn't lay flat when closed; must me due to having the folded Inner Sea Map placed at the back of the book, causing warping.

Edit: Added another picture to the album showing the curved front cover.

I just wanted to add that I dislike returning anything unless I have good reason to. When I do return something, I always worry what the replacement will be like. I think that all "The Inner Sea World Guides" have a problem with curved covers, due to the added folded map, so that's not really an issue. It's the separation that bothers me, I have three other hardcover Pathfinder RPG Books, they are: Core Rulebook, Bestiary, and the Advanced Players Guide. None have that separation where the headband is. I don't have that issue with my D&D books either.

I'm not asking for Paizo to do anything about it, I'll be returning the book back to the Coles book store, where I got it; I just want to know if the book I have is defective based on the pictures that I've provided; if it's not, then I'll be keeping it. I'm sorry for posting so many times, I just want the companies opinion on the matter.

Hi Reckless Hound,
Looking at the pictures:
1. This hardcover does have a separation between the headband and the spine. It's a sizeable book and that is intended to help prevent damage/wear on the spine and page signatures.
2. The slight curve in the cover does not reach the level to which we would generally provide a replacement for and should not affect the usability of the book. We would recommend storing it with some heavier items on top for while, if you want to try to work that out.
Also, as a general rule - If you purchase an item from a retailer other than us and it has some kind of defect, your first step should be to try to work that retailer for an exchange or replacement. (They should then be able to get a replacement or credit from their distributor, who gets replacement or credit from us).
Thanks!

Just an update: I got my replacement today, I don't know if due to the books age or what, but this one has separation at the headband as well. The side that faces you when your reading the book is fine (for now), but the opposite is clearly separated between the headband and pages, it's easy to see when you open the book half way. I'm not returning it again though, I can live with it.
