There was a new Rat Queens at the comic book store last week.
It was odd.
Just not very coherent, not with the last story or even within itself.
It definitely did not have that spark it had at the beginning.
Usually, edgy comics get cuted up and sanitized to appeal to a bigger audience.
Not to throw spoilers in or anything but they brought Hannah back, her dad was somehow freed from prison, Tizzie is gone?
The whole story about dopplegangers is gone.
I mean part of the original series was it was crude and crass but it was adult, with adult problems and not so clean solutions.
This just seemed like Fantasy-lite, glib and shallow.

My understanding is they're rebooting the series. I'm not sure as to why.
I belive it has something to do with the controversy surrounding one of the creators. It's an ugly mess I won't get into here. Not sure who or what to believe, as this is the Internet.

I thought once they got out of Palisaide and drove off Nyrgoth the story went off the rails.
The Hannah's Dad storyline was clunky and more specifically, there was a scene where the Queens are hold up in a cave and they are attacked by shadow demons and don't appear to be able to win and the story just left turns like that never happened. Everything since then has been odd. Like the folks writing it didn't know what they were doing.
I would have been ok with Hannah being imprisoned, making a deal with the demon, becoming a villain with or without a potential for redemption.
It would have been infinitely better than the two most recent issues which are just odd.
I had to have someone explain to me the last bit, the part where Besty is hallucinating and talking to a tree. I thought it was still a story by the merchant traveling with them.
