Most memorable or iconic monster and location combinations?

5th Edition (And Beyond)

What are your favorite/most memorable/most iconic monster and location combinations? I might run a one- or two- session medium level 5E game soon, and I'm trying to think of the most iconic combinations. Here's a few I thought of:

Red Dragon in a volcano lair
Mind Flayer or Beholder in an underground lair
Orcs guarding a treasure chest in a dungeon
Dinosaurs on a tropical island

What are some other favorites?

Beholder in a cave that's shaped like a beholder. It used its disintegration ray to carve out the cave in it's own image.

Hobgoblin army sieging a human castle.

Temple of Yuan-ti

Green dragon in a swamp. Blue dragon in the desert.

Minotaur in a maze. (Greek mythology)

Mummy in a pyramid.

Stealing gems/treasure from a Roc nest (not actually fighting the roc - the key is to sneak past it). (Sinbad)

Giant snakes on an island. (Sinbad)

Cyclops on an island. (Odyssey)

Genie battle between a genie in a ring and a genie in a lamp (Aladdin)

The island is actually a giant turtle (Sinbad)

Skeletons in a tomb has to be one of the most frequent encounters I've faced over the years.

I tend to like themed adventures.

I recently ran a temple adventure where there was a giant bat-riding orc assassin, earless orc cultists, vargouilles, and the cultists summoned a yagnaloth (a big, bat-eared daemon).

Also headless zombies.

I'm working on The Crypt of the Monkey King. It's going to have a variety of undead, monkeys, and undead monkeys. And apes and other simians.

My next big adventure will feature nagas, yuan-ti, dragonborn, lizard folk, troglodytes, dinosaurs, and yuan-ti riding dinosaurs, dragonborn riding dinosaurs, lizard folk riding dinosaurs, troglodytes riding dinosaurs, and all manner of giant magic serpents.

Or it might be an adventure featuring gnolls, ghouls, leucrotta, and other demonic cannibals.

I'm also partial to hags and trolls and other evil fey-types. Also barghests and a mixed bag of goblinoids and worgs.
