Question about Viability of Desert Druid archetype in Mummy's Mask

Mummy's Mask

So I'm getting the chance to play as a druid in MM, and I'm wondering about the worth of taking the Desert Druid archetype: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo-druid-a rchetypes/desert-druid/

Does the -2 on druid levels for wild shape outweigh the bonuses for desert travel? I'm especially thinking of the fact that its possible my group will just buy wands of Endure Elements, so I'm wondering what other people who played Mummy's Mask experienced.

Thanks in advance!

Desert Travel doesn't come into play until the second half of book three, so by the time 9 level casters are in the spell level 3 or 4 range. Books 1 and 2 are urban adventures, as is the first half of 3. Not familiar enough with the archetype, however, but if you're planning on being a caster heavy druid I don't see it hurting. A melee or WS focused one, however, its a bit much on the trade off.
