Can you discard cards to explore again to close an empty location?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Quick question: I was playing a scenario in which we had to close all the locations. I was at a location that had no cards left, but I failed the check to close. Can I discard a card that lets me explore again to attempt the check again?

No for different reasons:
1) Trying to close an empty location happens in its own step, after your exploration step of the round. At that point you cannot explore anymore.
2) During the "attempt to close your location (if empty)" you are anyway only allowed one try.
3) Anyway a card that let you explore (ally or blessing are typical examples) doesn't let you try to close (cards don't do what they don't say).

Grand Lodge

The only caveat here is, if the last card of the location deck is a henchman that lets you attempt to close, that happens during your Explore phase. If you fail, you can then progress on to your Attempt To Close phase and try it again.
