The story of a good persons fall from grace is a classic that stands the test of time. But it isn’t always right for the gaming table, at least not with player characters. And there is sometimes a frustration when a GM tries to force a character to fall by any means necessary.
So how do you incorporate the tumble of good down the path to hell? Have you told this story with a PC, r made the story about the PCs getting involved with the fallen?

The only way this storyline works in an RPG is when the GM and the player are both completely on the same page: The player wants to tell a story of her PC paving the road to Hell with good intentions AND the GM wants to facilitate that story.
This isn't a storyline that can be imposed from either end... at least, not to anyone's satisfaction.

The fall is not easily playable, but the redemption or attempted redemption of a party of already fallen characters is. Once a campaign starts, the only thing you can count on the player characters doing is striving to survive and grow in power. If it is absolutely necessary for party members to do something that is not in their own best interests, it is probably best to work whatever it is into their pre-campaign backstories. Strange Aeons did this.
