Masters of technology and PC hardware, need some help

So I'm buying PC parts individually to try and build a good gaming rig, right? But I don't know which parts I should get from the UK, and which the US.

For the most part, I'm getting the pieces from the US, but as the electricity in my country is akin to that in the UK, I don't know which parts MUST be bought from there instead of the states.

Here's the parts list:

I'd be grateful for any help, thanks.

(My buddy tells me I ought to wait for a few months as better parts are coming out, but I think that's true every month)

Actually for that matter, on the page it says something about the 'EVGA SLI HB Bridge (1-slot spacing)' and that Nvidia calls it the 3-slot, so does that mean if I get the bridge from Nvidia I should choose the 3-slot version?

EDIT: Also it talks about the 4TB hard drive not being the normal mechanical version but SATA-based....I have no idea what that means. I mean, it's still a hard drive like any other right? (EDIT 2: Actually never mind, I think they mean it's SSD, the fastest hard drive type currently out)

Virtually all computer power supplies will have a 110/220 input switch, so you can buy any of them. Everything else is powered by that so no concerns about internal parts. May need a power wall pin changer to meet your countries configuration.

Also SSD's are by definition NOT hard drives, as they do not have a spinning disk to be hard (or not.)

As for the SLI bridge, I don't know. Sorry :(

Questions like this suggest to me that you've never built a rig before. I would strongly suggest that you not try this for your first rig. Building your own machine isn't cheaper than buying a new one. and the wrong move can wind up costing you as a pretty expensive mistake.

And yes you are right one one thing. better parts are always going to be coming out in a few months.

What games are you planning on running? Because the bulk of games out there don't require anything close to the Supreme Machine. Keep also in mind that many folks on the hot edge will be selling last year's Supreme Machine at a bargain price. And you'll still be good for a long while.

The Exchange

Unless you're looking to do extreme bench marking or are a professional video editor, a lot of the parts in that 'Supreme Dream Machine' are absolutely pointless and will just be wasting electricity.

Before picking any computer parts, decide what screen you'll be using.
Will it be a regular old High Definition TV? A cheap 1080p monitor? An ultra-wide 34" or 4K monitor? With or without G-Sync/Freesync technology?

The screen your using is a fairly important starting point as you don't need nearly as high-end parts for a 1080p screen compared to a 4K G-Sync screen.

Also, what type of games are you playing? Do you have high rez eyeballs or low rez (like me)? IMHO the video card is the make or break of a computer but it can also be replaced later on.. A good video card will extend the lifespan of a computer. Also, a 4 or 8 GB video card should do the trick. New stuff is ALWAYS coming out, so you really need to tell us what software you are running.

In my case I will be upgrading my video card eventually as well as adding more RAM and new hard drives to my system. One last thing, I would go with a 850 watt or 1000 watt power supply so you do not have to replace that at all unless it fails.

Thanks for the replies guys!

For some breakdowns:

Once I receive all the parts I'll go to a computer store nearby that can assemble the PC for a small fee. Also, I'm going to be using it for gaming and watching movies, but pretty much all through my VR headset (using apps that will allow me to watch my desktop through my VR set). I was originally gonna get a 100" TV to go with it, but with a VR headset, who needs a TV?

The thing as to why I'm buying the best parts I can is because I keep my PCs for roughly 7-10 years. My current PC would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that it can't play VR and....that I kinda mighta ruined my video card by having a game run in the background for 24 hours for about...what was it....a week? Two weeks (three even)? And ironically it wasn't even a great game, it was just a clicker game I was addicted to for a while there. The current one's been with me for 7 or 8 years now. I like to milk my PCs to the point that even the latest games I simply stick on lowest rez just to be able to play them, but nowadays however even on lowest setting I can't get some of the latest stuff to work anymore (nor VR for that matter).
