There are several classes that grant an AFC bonus of +1 to resist specific maneuvers. It is pretty straightforward in most cases, but I'm not sure how grappling would be handled, as there are two occasions where your CMD becomes relevant.
When someone tries to grapple you or tries to maintain a grapple, I assume everyone agrees that the bonus would be applied. But would this also be the case when tries to escape your grapple using his CMB?
In short: would stopping the attempt to escape the grapple be considered resisting a grapple attempt?

I think you may have misunderstood the question, Abraham.
Let me rephrase it:
A character has a bonus to CMD which applies when "resisting a grapple attempt". This character is currently grappling an enemy who attempts a CMB check to break free. Does the character get the bonus to CMD?
My answer: depends on the wording of the bonus, but probably, yes.

Add +1 to the fighter's CMD when resisting two combat maneuvers of the character's choice.
That would be the human fighter AFC bonus, there really isn't more to it than what I already wrote. It comes down to the question if someone trying to escape from your grapple something that can be resisted.

If that's the simple wording, then I would say that it would apply to any Grapple Combat Maneuver CMB rolls made against the character who has this ability's CMD.
Combat ManeuversDuring combat, you can attempt to perform a number of maneuvers that can hinder or even cripple your foe, including bull rush, disarm, grapple, overrun, sunder, and trip. Although these maneuvers have vastly different results, they all use a similar mechanic to determine success.
That identifies what the "combat maneuvers" are that would be eligible to be chosen by the ability. Then anything in the heading for that specific ability that result in a CMB roll vs CMD would apply the bonus.
