This FAQ and the one below it were issued between WotR and MM, and mean that we no longer need to specify "random" when drawing from the box.
That said, the FAQ says "When you draw a card from the box, unless you are told to draw a specific card, draw a random card of the appropriate type," and the word "specific" can be relative: "Draw a weapon that has the Bludgeoning trait" isn't as specific as "draw the weapon Nunchaku," but it's more specific than "draw a weapon." So whenever we are being more specific than card type, we still use the word "random" to be clear. So you would see "draw the weapon Nunchaku from the box," "draw a random weapon that has the Bludgeoning trait from the box," and "draw a weapon from the box." (In the latter case, if we wanted you to choose, we would say "choose a weapon from the box and draw it.")

It's a random card in each case.
When you draw a card from the box, unless you are told to draw a specific card, draw a random card of the appropriate type.
While summoning tells you to "retrieve" a card from the box (and not "draw"), I think the rule still fits. The MM rulebook may have further cleared up the wording, but I can't check that at this time.
