Having trouble figuring out how thread subscriptions work on this site

I just started posting seriously here, and I am having trouble figuring out how to set up thread subscriptions here. So far I have to keep coming back here to check on the threads I've posted on.

I am using Google Chrome as my main browser, and I want to get notifications on my Hotmail account. I've tried clicking on the orange box on the upper left-hand corner at the start of a thread page. But when I do that, I get a page of code that I can't make sense of.

The orange box is for RSS applications, I'd look around for one that enables an email alert option.

I use Newsify on my iPhone, no email alerts but it works well.

You can also go to the first post in the thread and hit the "list" link and add them to your wishlists do you can see updates on your Paizo account as well.

I've activated the List link. Time will see if this works for me. If it doesn't, I'll look for an RSS app. Thanks for the help!
