Holy Book and Weapon Type

Rules Questions

So I saw earlier today that the Holy Book used by the Living Grimoire inquisitor archetype is counted as a simple weapon (by the Horror Adventures FAQ) but my question is which kind of simple weapon? I think it is supposed to be a light weapon due to the fact that it references the light mace, however I am not sure and haven't seen anything about it (or have not found any threads regarding this). Any confirmation or speculation would be much appreciated.

Bump.

What a wacky archetype! My reading agrees with yours; it's basically equivalent to a light mace, except that Weapon Focus (light mace) wouldn't help with it, you'd need Weapon Focus (holy book). But it can be wielded in one hand, doesn't get x1.5 Str for two-handing, etc.

Feel the Holy Word of my Deity!!! *whap*
You will respect my Deity!!!!!
*Casts Returning Weapon* I am throwing the book at you!!!!

Edit... looking at the FAQ and how it is, the holy book is a Light weapon. You can two hand all day long, but it does not give any advantage to do so, as it is still considered to be wielded in one hand.

Good to know, as I've already made my character based on the idea that he had to use it as a light weapon. It will certainly be weird for the rest of the party considering my Living Grimoire is an inquisitor of Gorum (Divine Anthology has a precedent for Ulfen bookish worshipers of Gorum, although I must admit that I didn't know about them until I had made him an Ulfen and everything else) but at least my guy is made as support-melee so it should be fine.

It's quite possible, if you don't mind the penalties, that you can wield a holy book a size larger than you. This should let you wield it in two hands, if your design warrants a particularly large book.

It also helps to be able to continue reading your scripture once you hit the old age category.
