First Time Playing?

I've only ever played D&D before, and now I want to play Pathfinder, because Starfinder is coming out next year. I also have a friend who's helping me create a Space Opera Universe with GURPS, so I can do my own research when creating my Webcomic. If I attend a group for people who play Pathfinder, and then ultimately play Starfinder, what might you have to say?

My suggestion would be to wait until Starfinder comes out, rather than treating Pathfinder as a kind of "gateway".

It's impossible for me to know, of course, but my impression is that Starfinder is only going to be 'kind of' compatible with Pathfinder. If you're like me, learning two similar-but-slightly-different systems at the same time (or eight months apart) is a recipe for disaster. I'd expect there to be several areas where the PF rules will be different that SF but sound similar - so you'd be better off never having learned PF at all.

As I say though, I wouldn't really know - that's just a guess based on impressions. Who knows how similar the rules will be?
