Greetings,
Warning, possibility of minor spoilers ahead for Players of The Skinsaw Murders.
My PCs have taken seriously the possibility of Scarnetti involvement in the early murders of Skinsaw. In fact our rogue (a goblin, I might add - now there's someone who has heard the hue and cry for diversity!) will be casing the Manor late in the evening on Fireday, the 11th of Lamashan. He hasn't really said what he will be looking for (this may just be an excuse to purloin a pretty bauble or trinket, or even find something new and exotic to satisfy his insatiable appetite).
Anyway, in order to keep alive this red herring, in their search for the true perpetrator(s), I feel it would be best to provide some level of mapping for the rogue's activity. Otherwise, the meta-game portion of the PCs brains will take over and realize that this must be a dead end, since there's no map, or other detail. Get my drift?
With that in mind, has anyone created any internal floorplans for the Scarnetti Manor? I have found the, most excellent, exterior map by Noxveritas out on DeviantArt. However, my searching has turned up a big zero for anything for the interior.
So, before I go off and try my hand at mapmaking (I'm not particularly optimistic about that), I thought I'd better ask if anyone else has squirreled away anything that would help with this?
Thanks.

Hythlodeus,
Thanks for responding.
Our next session is on 10/22 (2 saturdays from today). I would need it by 10/20. So, that may be too soon for you...
I'm going to have a whirl (tonight) at one or two freebie map-making tools, and see if I can create something that will suffice...
Any suggestions?

Looking at the existing map outline, and assuming 10px/ft, that would work out to a main level (exclusive of the octagon - conservatory?) of 80'x 40'. The East wing ~27'x'22, and the bounding square of the octagon, about 35'x35' (I think). East wing = single story, main house 2-story...
That's just what I was thinking. Nothing too elaborate. Maybe a secret door off the master bedroom, you know... the usual ;-)
Anyway, let me know.
thanks, a lot.

If you need something in a hurry try a web search for english manor floor plans. They won't have a grid, but most will have room sizes so overlaying a grid is easy. They also won't be as good as a home-made plan because they're generally missing secret doors and such, and the layouts aren't always good for adventures.
I use them for inspiration and to add a bit of realism to my maps. Sometimes I forget to add rooms that some might consider critical, like kitchens, closets, bathrooms.

Hythlodeus,
Hey, no worries, at all. I appreciated the offer, but recognize that there are all kinds of things that can get in the way.
Also, I was working on a backup plan, just in case. I found a free tool ('Dungeon Painter') and I have made enough of a beginning with it, that I am confident that I can finish something serviceable before this Saturday. It won't be of the highest artistic quality (I found your start of the Scarnetti Manor that you posted - http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4498/ob4dnjs7_jpg.htm - that's looking good...), but it only has to convince my PCs that the Scarnetti's are a reasonable avenue of exploration. If I were to present them with nothing more than a line drawing, or, worse, "theater of the mind" only, then they would pick up on it as an unproductive lead. Get it?
Anyway, when I finish my maps, I'll post them in case they are of use.
Till next time.
