Cavalier without a mount archetype?

Homebrew and House Rules

Hi All,

I have a player who wants to play a cavalier but without a mount they can't find an archetype that they like and have proposed the following:

Gain: d12 Hit die, Good will save, Armor Training as fighter.

Loose: Mount, Cavalier's Charge, Expert Trainer, Mighty Charge, Supreme Charge

Do folks think this is reasonable? Is there a good mountless cavalier archetype that I should check out instead?

Thanks,
Bardarok

Cavalier archetypes without mounts:
Castellan (gain defensive abilities)
Constable (gain social and teamwork bonuses)
Daring Champion (gain swashbuckler abilities)
Esquire (gain cohort)
Huntmaster (...but you end up with an animal companion anyways)
Musketeer (gain guns)

And, of special note, the Sword Saint archetype of the samurai alternate class, which has many similarities to cavalier.

(* All names from the PFSRD, it's the fastest lookup I have on the phone, so some may have had their serial numbers filed off)

Add:

Yojimbo Samurai -- you become a bodyguard (including getting the Bodyguard feat at 4th level, prerequisite-free, although you're really going to want to get the prerequisite feat Combat Reflexes anyway).

Oh, right, forgot to check the list below the table they never update.

Thanks for helping out!

^I always check the lists below, because while it isn't quite correct to say that they never update the archetype tables, they sure have an enormous delay in doing so. (This didn't used to be the case -- this problem seems to have started 2 or 3 years ago.)

Thanks!
