Beast Wrestler Brawler Flexing into Dedicated Adversary feat

Rules Questions

So one of the main class features of the Beast Wrestler Archetype is:
**
Beast Training (Ex)

At 3rd level, a beast-wrestler selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. The only humanoid subtype the beast-wrestler can select is giant. She gains a +2 bonus on combat maneuver checks and to her CMD against creatures of the type she selected.

At 7th, 11th, 15th, and 19th levels, the beast-wrestler can select an additional type of creature. In addition, at each such interval the bonuses against any one type of creature she's chosen (including the one just selected, if so desired) increase by 2. If a specific creature falls into more than one category, the beast-wrestler's bonuses don't stack; she simply uses whichever bonus is higher.

This ability replaces maneuver training.
**

It's also pretty easy for standard Brawlers to Flex into the Dedicated Adversary feat:

**
Dedicated Adversary:

Prerequisite(s): No levels in a class that has the favored enemy class feature.

Benefit(s): When you select this feat, choose a specific kind of creature, such as wolf, frost giant, goblin, or babau demon. You gain the ranger's favored enemy class ability against this particular type of creature with a bonus of +2.

This feat does not grant the favored enemy class feature for the purposes of prerequisites. If you later gain the favored enemy class feature, you can replace this feat with a feat for which you qualify and whose prerequisites include the favored enemy class feature.

Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a different creature.
**

Can Beast Wrestlers flex into Dedicated Adversary? By RAW it works as Beast Wrestlers have 'Beast Training' as a class feature not 'favored enemy'. And as both bonus are untyped the +2 on attack rolls from Dedicated Adversary should stack with the bonus on combat maneuver from Beast Training correct?

Also the 'specific kind of creature' blurb is unclear. The chosen creature has to be more 'specific' than the more general choices on the ranger list?

Not that Beast Wrestlers would care as they can just flex into whatever creature they're facing at the moment....

No ideas either way?

Last try. It seems pretty straight forward just wanted to confirm.

Scarab Sages

OK. there is a statement out there, I am not sure if it made it into an official FAQ yet. It states that Even if X & Y have different names, if X & Y work the same, they are the same.

The example given is Channel Energy. A bunch of different classes and archetypes have the Ability to Channel Energy, and not all of them are called Channel Energy. They don't technically qualify for Extra Channel for instance, but the intent is that they should

People could argue that Beast Mastery should work the same way. But while it uses the Favored Class list, it doesn't actually mechanically work in the same way, so they are NOT the same thing.

In fact, the bonuses don't overlap (almost) at all. You aren't stacking any benefits. There is the corner case of a weapon attack used to make a combat maneuver, and I wouldn't grant the weapon attack bonus to a CMB check whether or not you had these 2 features. Others may rule differently. You will want to consult your GM on that overlap.

The Concordance

It works. They stack. They are seperately named features with separate benefits. The only thing in common is they refer to the same table of creature types.

As far as specific creature goes, select the name of a creature as it appears on its stat block. You select a name rather than a type/subtype. The feat gives some examples.

Thanks. This was actually really useful. I didn't realize that favored enemy was for weapon rolls and wouldn't add To CMB rolls.
