Can someone please tell me why Natural Armor doesn't count towards Touch AC?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

It makes no sense. How is avoiding something's touch any different than avoiding its claw attacks or its bite?

Dex... does count toward touch AC.

It does...

From the PRD:
All other modifiers, such as your size modifier, Dexterity modifier, and deflection bonus (if any) apply normally.

Wow. This is extremely embarrassing for me. What I meant was Natural armor.

For example, if you have an amulet of natural armor, is it actually natural?

Because your natural armor is effectively your skin. Your skin doesn't stop me from touching you, just like an alligator having really thick hide doesn't mean anything if you're just petting it.

Because all someone has to do is "touch" the target, and natural armor doesn't help with that cause the natural armor (examples from PRD: tough hide, scales, or thick skin) doesn't prevent contact.

An amulet of natural armor is providing a bonus to your natural armor (natural armor bonus), which is essentially just magically reinforcing your skin.

Amulet of natural armor gives an enhancement bonus to (or improving) existing natural armor (no regular natural armor is a starting bonus of 0).

If you can, you might wanna fix up the thread title.

Dang I wish I could. Is there a way to do that?

Yeah like others said. Touching just requires touching. Armor, natural armor, etc don't interfere with you not being able to be touched. While Dodge, DEX, Deflection etc make it easier to avoid being touched by moving out of the way or deflecting the touch magically.

Monk's wisdom is a special case where it isn't really explicit what it does, its more or less assumed that their ability to react (and block/dodge with their hands/body) is so good that it allows them to avoid attacks better than most, even when flat-footed. This is supported by them being denied it when immobilized

Try "Edit" on the first post? Maybe it'll give option to change title?

Got it, thanks!
