Sniper Training (Ex)
At 5th level, the cavern sniper chooses the bow or crossbow weapon group and gains a +2 bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels beyond 5th.
This ability replaces weapon training 1, 3, and 4.
So since I have to choose a weapon group can I still conceivably gain Advanced Weapon Training abilities through the Advanced Weapon Training feat? It's been nagging me for a bit. My gut says no, but I want to get some other opinions before I completely dismiss it.

Strictly reading no, because it is neither a weapon training class feature nor it has a text saying it counts as one.
As a GM I would allow it as a houserule, though.
Good to know, just really confirming what I already suspected. Honestly between my character taking archery (or crossbow) feats and the noble drow line of feats I'm probably a bit tight for feats in the early levels.
Clarification after reviewing the rules for advanced weapon training:
When a regular fighter reaches 9th level he actually gets two benefits: he increases his bonus with weapon group selected and selects a new group that gets +1 bonus. Cave sniper gets the former but not later and advanced weapon training option replaces later but not former.
I would rule that cave sniper does qualify for Advanced Weapon Training feat (virtually making my houserule "add a sentence to sniper training: this ability counts as weapon training ability for all purposes."). I would probably allow exchanging sniper training bonus increase for an advanced weapon training option, but only once, in effect reducing the sniper training bonus to the same value that is offered by regular weapon training but I would have to actually think it through if such request would appear from one of my players.
