Since there are multiple threads on the subject without an apparent consensus, I thought I'd try and make an FAQ request.
How does the spell Grease work when cast on the ground in a 10 ft. square? If prone within the greased area, do I need to make an Acrobatics check to stand up? Do I need to make an Acrobatics check and/or pay extra movement when moving out of the area? When am I flat-footed - only when moving in greased squares, the entire move action after having moved in grease or perhaps until the start of my next turn?
I'd love some help with hitting that FAQ button. Feel free to discuss too, won't hurt.

The first question is to vague
No you do not need to make an acrobatics check to stand up.
If you make an acrobatic check you move at half speed. That is covered in the acrobatics skill section.
You are flat-footed while trying to make the acrobatics check, which is done while you are in the greased area. Once you are outside of that area no acrobatics check is needed.
You never have to make an acrobatic check in unaffected terrain/area. It is no different than tumbling to get out of a threatened area, and the moving the rest of the way at normal speed.
Also in the first thread you linked to "Varathon" answered it and nobody tried a rebuttal. That counts as consensus here.
Snowblind handled it in the 3rd thread, which was taking place at the same time as the 2nd link you post so they likely saw that answer and stopped asking questions.
The 4th thread ended and came back.
Some people have questions on it, but it is not really a hotly contested issue here, because most people understand how it works.

We all understand how it works, but not everyone understands it to work the same way.
Most of your points I agree with. How long a character remains flat-footed after moving through treacherous terrain, I would disagree with.
The disagreement is not specific to Grease.

I have seen almost every rule in the book contested so everyone not understanding it does not qualify it for an FAQ in my opinion. If it is something a large percentage of us don't understand that is different.
What is the purpose of saying "We all understand how it works, but not everyone understands it to work the same way."?
When I say we understand how it works I was saying we mostly understand how to correctly use it at the table because if don't then you do not understand how it works.
If you don't understand it in that way then you do not understand it.
