Is the Class Defense Bonus from the Unearthed Arcana considered OGL?

Product Discussion

Here is the original link I'm referencing which states the doc is OGL under license from WoTC. However following the link takes me to a 4th ed SRD for Open Gaming Content.

So if I were writing a piece for publication would I be safe in using the Class Defense Bonus chart or would this be opening a can of worms?

If it is a problem can anyone recommend a different location with a less controversial chart for the class def bonus?

Thanks!

Ok, this is related to

  • 3.5 SRD
  • unearthed arcana

So I don't remember.
I'd get a 3.5 unearthed arcana and read the OGL to see what's useable and legal.

Pretty sure this belongs in 3rd party or some other forum? It's not pathfinder related.

I have not seen a similar chart in use for pathfinder. If anyone knows of one I'd be happy to take a look at it.

*Checks this*

According to my copy, the rules in 3.5's Unearthed Arcana are Open Game Content (except for a handful of specifically stated exceptions which are not involved here). I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, but if my personal understanding of how all of this works is correct, you should be just fine if you use that chart as long as you properly cite things per OGL rules.

Thank you for the clarification!

Anything in the SRD is by definition OGL, as long as you use it under the terms of the OGL license the particular SRD your source comes from. You can't just put the material in your work, you MUST conform to the rules of the OGL itself.

Everything in 3.5 Unearthed Arcana is OGL.

So by this you mean if I wanted to reference the Class Defense Chart, I'd reference it and then state in my work how I was using it differently, but not actually reproduce the chart itself?
