A question about the Church of Nethys

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Assuming a temple of Nethys located in Thuvia has a fixed curriculum for what the teach their young acolytes and this curriculum includes at least one mystical/magical language (i.e. abyssal, draconic, terran etc.), which language do you think they are most likely to teach their acolytes first?

Also, on a related notes, is "The Book of Magic" (The Nethian holy text) more likely to be written in one specific language? Giving that Nethys himself was most likely Osiriani, is ancient (or modern) osiriani considered a "sacred" (or at least more traditional) language for Nethian religious texts?

Silver Crusade

Given Thuvia's location I would actually go with an elemental language, since that what Genies use.

Nothing to my knowledge would strike said tome as only staying in the original language, as such a widespread religion I'm sure there's translations into a multitude of other languages.

Generally speaking, Draconic is the most likely for a magical/mystical language among Wizards. Wizards can swap it for one of their normal bonus languages.

Though, it's a Nethysian temple; it could be anything really. It would be most appropriate to make decisions based on whoever's teaching the acolytes or the beliefs and culture of that particular temple.

Really, outside of valuing magic, there's not much dogma. Worshipers and temples of Nethys can be pretty varied.

The Exchange

Wouldn't a Nethys holy text just be written in 'magic' - i.e. it needs Read Magic to read? They're all about excluding the muggles after all...
