Shield and natural attacks

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Quick question guys,

A Barbarian with the Beast Totem rage powers gains 2 claws attacks, if he equip a heavy shield on one arm he can still be able attack with the other claw? There are any penalties involved?

For me just seems like it can be done, just need to confirm it with you guys because on Hero Lab it keeps hidding the claw if i equip a shield and need a second opinion.

Thx

Yes, such a barbarian would be able to make a claw attack with the arm not holding the shield, with no particular penalty. However the arm holding the shield would not be available to make claw attacks with, as it seems you've already determined.

You could also combine iterative attacks the barbarian has with that natural claw attack. Such iterative attacks could be made with any other weapons the barbarian is wielding (such as a boot blade or the shield itself) or even unarmed strikes, except for your occupied hands. However, if you go this route, be sure to read up on the section that discusses combining manufactured and natural attacks.
