2-2D am I reading it right?

Based on my reading of this scenario you can't actually acquire boons, since every explore comes from the robber deck. Unless you get lucky with a Cache barrier, I suppose. Also, why would you close locations? You may close them when empty but it doesn't say you must. There doesn't seem to be any benefit to closing them.

So it looks to me like this is a slog through all the monsters, barriers and henchmen for n+2 Throne rooms, with likely a random roll for an upgrade at the end, since no one can encounter boons. The other cards in the location decks don't actually seem to matter.

I get that the boons represent valuables being destroyed - I'm just already mentally writing off this one as "no upgrade worth taking," since I probably won't get any boons. Am I getting something wrong in my understanding of the scenario?

The scenario has some errors in it compared to how it was intended to work, and I've already submitted a ticket for them to be addressed. Vic and/or Tanis can better answer as to when that might happen, and hopefully not too many people are planning to play it right away.

We played it last night and had another question.

Should the on taking damage text that removes boons be for every instance of damage during an encounter?

In example, we faced two enchantresses, which dealt a damage before and after the combat. We played, based on the wording that the unlucky player (who go both of them, back to back) must remove 4 cards from their location and all unoccupied locations. Would that be correct?

That is correct. Enchanters really make you want to spread out and have locations covered, or to use tricks to avoid that damage. Hopefully once fixes are in it will totally seem worth burying an armor (or you'll even regret not having some more armor in the party) to block that damage.

Keith, I played in RoyalCoat's party and had the unfortunate choice of having the least amount of damage prevention on the team (being an Alchemist). And of course I get the 2 Enchanters and the Goblin Commando.

I was a bit salty after that. I didn't even get to look at my Armor in that scenario.

This scenario was almost soloed by our Olenjack player. Free explores with poison use made it really easy, since you just keep exploring deck of banes. I was in same location with Maznar and animal ally to give that 1d4 buff on his checks too. =D

Also if you don't get any boons as loot you can roll boons from the game box at the end of scenario. Unfortunately we took cache of items from barrier and had pretty much just items as loot.

I've realized you can also use Detect Magic to encounter cards in your actual location deck.
