While I was creating a witch character I noticed an odd little archetype called the Synergist and it's strange ability Symbiosis. It says the familiar melds into your body but is still able to share it's feelings empathically. The question is, do you get Alertness while your familiar is melded with you or not? Can your familiar experience the outside world and therefor have the ability to make certain kinds of rolls, such as perception rolls?
Inside you would seem to be within arm's reach, so yes to Alertness. And I have to think the familiar can experience the world or it wouldn't have anything to communicate empathically except boredom. But it would probably be limited to using your senses and unable to use things like blindsight until you're high enough level to "inherit" them from it.

Makes sense, good to see someone's else opinion on this. And ya, if the familiar can sense anything at all I assume it would have to be through the senses you posses, not the senses it doesn't really have at the moment.
