Most of the time I usually just have them sell the pelt/skin/hide what ever you want to call it. Couple gold here or maybe trade in a few for a leather item.
My problem is actually a Dire Wolf pelt, that they rolled for and rolled just ridiculously high for. Both the skill check to skin it and how good of shape the pelt was in. They have a pristine dire wolf pelt, and I have no idea how to reward them for it.
Giving them more gold for it seems a little anti climatic. I thought maybe someone would value it for more than a set gold value, but am unsure what they would exchange the party for it.
The second problem is "dibs". The elf ranger thinks it is hers, since she got the first blow and the wolf bit her. The human barbarian thinks its his since he landed the killing blow. The party spotted it at the same time.
