Homebrew and House Rules

They can seem to be a series of images or a period of decades. The dreamer will wake up. The dream can have some effect on the waking world or none. People who are dead can appear in dreams, even if irretrievably gone.

1: A man appears out of the mists. "Ever feel you've been somewhere before? Have you ever felt that you can't go on? Did you ever get the feeling that you are forgetting something really important? Well in the story you are about to see, the participants found out all actions and memories have consequences."

Suddenly you are opening the door of the Bellweather sanatorium. The administrator(Dr. Albert Weston) and the Chief of Staff(Half Elf Walter Johnson) thank you for coming. The sanatorium treats the suicidal and crippled. It seems the parents of one Egor Smithfield are losing patience with curing his suicidal tendencies. They have a pendant of hypnosis, but it will only work for sorcerers or bards.

The patient was born without arms and legs and is trying to kill himself. During the first session, Egor is hypnotised, but when the PC tries to suggest the patient stops trying to kill himself "he" insists he is a female halfling named Sally who's only love has been killed by ghouls. Sally forswore all gods and already killed herself. The magic ends, and the characters try to tell the patient what happened.

One of the other patients manage to kill themselves. Johnson reveals he has 5 levels of druid and a staff of reincarnation. When he casts reincarnation on the body, a Lamia appears. The Combat phase begins. If the PCs are higher level, the Lamia frees other Lamias for the fight.

After witnessing this Egor Realizes that suicide is a bad idea and promises to never try again.

The mists return, Cuethe music.

The PC wakes up. Especially chilling if the PCs then are summoned to the Bellweather sanatorium.

2: You find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife.
You ask yourself,
Well...How did I get here?
You tell yourself,
This is not my beautiful house,
And you tell yourself,
This is not my beautiful wife.
You ask yourself,
What is that beautiful house?

You keep hearing someone saying,
Same as it ever was...
You awake realizing it's you,
talking in your sleep.

Possible game importance: Enemy failing their stealth check.

3: Cake dream. Cakes as far as the eye can see. May wake up chewing on a pillow.

4:Raccoon Dream. Raccoons break into your dream and start eating all the cake.

5. The cow dream. Not mine, but a friend's.

'You are standing in a pasture. The sky is dark and the wind blows with a the metallic scent of a storm. A lone cow absently flicks its tail to ward off flies at it eyes you between mouthfuls of fresh grass and cud. You see treetops waving in the wind on the dark horizon and other cows here and there but no signs of civilization.'
"Want some milk?" you hear behind you.
The cow is standing nearby and looking at you with its deep brown eyes. It takes a step closer and and hear the clink-clank of a bell around its neck.
"Milk?" it says, suddenly standing up on its hindlegs. It has a milk pail with a flexible tube on the end. As you open your mouth, as though in shock or to say something, it sticks the tube in your mouth and starts pumping a handle on the pail.
"You like miiiiilk! Miiiiilk! Have some miiiilk!"
The cow pumps fresh, cold milk into your mouth. You try and swallow as much as you can while the cow keeps pumping and mooing out, "Have some miiiiilk! You want more miiiilk!"
You feel your mouth filling up and excess milks starts squirting from your lips and nose as the cow continues gazing at you happily and suddenly... you wake up.'

6. The Bag.
You are alone, except for the bag, on an infinite stone plane. The sky is grey with indistinct clouds. Coming from the bag is a voice saying, "Mommy? Mommy?" If you run away from the bag, you soon find the bag in front of you as you are running toward it. If you look in the bag you see yourself as a child screaming "MOMMY!!!!!" This wakes you up.

If you ponder this, roll on a rumor table as this is something you overheard as a child.

7. The colosseum.
You walk out into a colosseum fully equipped and with your friends. You face a puzzle or monster. Every time you try to defeat this the crowd cheers or boos based on weather you make any progress or not. You can conjure any weapon or tool(Rules are on page 243 of occult adventures). You may repeat this up to 3 times even if you die in the dream.

In the future you will encounter this very monster or puzzle. You can start preparing for it.
