how much woulda musket enchanment cost?

Advice

I've survived until level 4 and I was hoping to gt a plus 1-2 to my musket how much would that cost me?

The same as any other weapon enchantment. If you have a masterwork musket already, 2000 or 8000 gp, respectively.

I've never really lived long enough to have enchanted weapons XD what do they do?

The most common enchantment is a straight up enhancement bonus of between +1 and +5 to both to-hit and to damage. So if ordinarily you would need a 14 to hit that orc, you now need a 12 -- and if you ordinarily do 1d8+3 points of damage, you now do 1d8+5.

There are also more complicated enchantments that are priced equivalent to a straight-up enhancement bonus but that do something different. For example, the ghost touch enchantment allows you to ignore a ghost's special incorporeal defense, but doesn't do anything against a typical (corporeal) foe. It can be a lifesaver sometimes. This is priced as a +1 bonus, so a +1 ghost touch longsword would cost the same as a +2 longsword without the special property.

A lesser-known rule is that any magic weapon needs a +1 bonus before you could have a special property pt on it; you can have a +2 sword, or a +1 ghost touch sword, but not a (+0) ghost touch dispelling sword. So your first enchantment will always simply be a +1 enhancement bonus.
