So one of my players is dual classing as a Clerc-Arcanist, pretty cool actually. My question is that if he takes the trait that boosts his caster level so he doesn't suck and he begins to gain Thurge levels, does he still get exploits as he levels in Thurge? I can't find the rule under prestige classes.....
And also, if he has the boost to caster level, would that grant him more exploits?
Ex: 4 Arcanist/3 Cleric/2 Thurge - so would that be just 2 arnace exploits or would that be 3(with the trait) or a full 4 (trait + thurge levels)
I think I know the answer, just want to make sure.....

By the book, he gets no exploits but only increases to spells. However, this makes the theurge usually a very bad choice. I would probably make a houserule that when you take your first level in theurge, you pick one of your qualifying classes as primary, and get at least some of the special abilities from that class to continue to improve. You're already paying a huge price by being three levels behind; no need to worsen it by also losing exploits/bloodline powers/etc.

Also, how do my arcane exploits that I have progress? Specifically, my dimensional slide ability - do I continue to gain the +10/ft each level while going up in Thurge?
Class abilities refer to levels in that particular class unless stated specifically otherwise. So you would have 40 ft with dimensional slide.

The mystic theurge is OK if you want access to two full spell lists and lots of spell slots. It's not a great choice for all classes and some combinations require patience and planning.
For cleric/wizard or druid (domain instead of animal companion)/wizard it can be decent as long as you don't have your heart set on Channel Energy or wild shape. Oracle or sorcerer is a bit worse, because of the extra level needed to reach 2nd-level spells, but can be manageable as long as you go wizard or cleric/druid for the other class; oracle/sorcerer may look attractive, but being stuck with 1st and 2nd level spells until 10th character level really hurts. Classes that have many class abilities (arcanist, shaman, witch) or a pet (hunter, summoner) tied to class level tend to be poor choices.
IMO, some of the better choices for mystic theurge entry (other than the "classic" cleric/sorcerer, cleric/wizard, druid/sorcerer, or druid/wizard options) would be:
magus 5/cleric (negative energy) 1/magus +1 (Broad Study)/cleric +2
paladin 5/bard (arcane duelist, probably) 1/dragon disciple 4/paladin +3
ranger 4/magus (eldritch archer) 3/arcane archer 2/ranger +3
