creating robes of arcane heritage

Rules Questions

how can anyone create robes of arcane heritage... the item description says you have to be a sorcerer and cast a non-sorcerer spell. multi-class cleric/sorcerers only?

You just take a +5 to the DC of the craft check and ignore the spell prereq.

so, what's the point of the prereq spell if you always have to skip it?

A sorcerer can work with a cleric to make it without taking the hit to DC. But mostly it's there for flavor.

If you don't know the requirements of the item then it is harder to hit the crafting DC. For characters who don't focus on int and who don't want to max out spellcraft this is actually a problem. I personally have had to shift skill points away from other skills my Archeologist Bard really wanted just so I could hit the crafting DCs on items that have spell prereqs I can't meet.

All the good crafters are Mystic Theurges?

Might just be an oversight.

True, the crafter doesn't have to be the caster.
