What effect will this have on Paizo's PF Cthulhu stuff in the bestiaries (and on Strange Aeons)?

Guy's a Legend in Cthulhu Mythos and Roleplaying.

Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for PF

I don't know much about it, got pointed out to me by a relative.

I know Paizo has the Lovecraft stuff in the bestiaries, and coming out with it in their Strange Aeons AP....I'm just wondering how much these two will (or if they will) conflict, and if they do, which PF stuff will you use in your games and APs?

I get the impression this is authorized by Paizo due to this statement...

Quote:

Creatures in the Pathfinder Bestiaries I-V now authoritatively revised & updated in this book. Additionally, the original entries as found in the Bestiaries I-V are also included for easy reference and comparison.

In regards to the upcoming AP then, are they going to be using Petersen's stuff instead of what's in the Bestiaries?

It seems if you use miniatures or pawns, the KS could be useful for bulking up on miniatures...how many of these will be used in the upcoming AP?

Is there some connection between Petersen's stuff and the upcoming AP, and would his book hence be considered source material for it?

Authoritatively doesn't mean authorized. As material released under the OGL, Bestiary stats can be reproduced in other products with appropriate accreditation.

That to say probably no effect, but who knows, APs used to include third party stuff all the time (particularly the Advanced Bestiary from Green Ronin).

Considering that Strange Aeons kick off in August and this Kickstarter has an estimated delivery in December 2016 AND that KS products are more often than not late, I don't see much possibility for overlap.

It being authorized for Sand Petersen to make the thing =! Paizo will suddenly use third-party content despite not really doing that since making the PFRPG.

So no impact what-so-ever.

If Sanderson can make them OGL, then Paizo may well use any write-ups of critters he does that don't overlap with Paizo write-ups.

Kind of like the Tome of Horrors critter. The AP developers love Tome of Horrors, and it's not unusual to see at least one Tome of Horrors per AP chapter. (Though a number of Tome of Horrors critters have been re-written by the Pathfinder Design Team, too.)

If Paizo uses any OGL critters Sanderson writes, Paizo will just reprint the entire stat block rather than require folks to buy Sanderson's book.
