UNDEAD EIDOLON FOR THE UNCHAINED SUMMONER

Homebrew and House Rules

This is a build I worked up for a undead eidolon. Let me know if you think it is a bit much or not.

Undead
Base From: Biped (claws, limbs [arms], limbs [legs])

1st undead eidolons count as both undead and outsiders for the purpose of effects such as the bane weapon special ability and the favored enemy class feature. They gain a +4 bonus on saving throws against death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep, and stun.

4th Undead eidolons gain a +4 bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects and immunity to nonlethal damage, fatigue, and exhaustion.

8th Undead eidolons gain immunity to death effects, disease, and poison.

12th Undead eidolons gain Burrow at their base speed and life-sense

16th Undead eidolons lose the +4 bonus on saving throws against Mind-effecting effects and gain immunity to ability damage, ability drain, energy drain, and mind-effecting effects.

20th undead eidolons gain immunity to paralysis, sleep, stun, cold

Dotting. Answer in a moment

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well I was going to compare it, potentially, to something in 3pp I saw, but then it said "undead appearence" rather than giving it an undead type or resistances. So I say keep trucking on. I'm not the best at seeing imbalanced things and I'm not as tied to game balance as other people when it comes to classes.

As this is a model for an unchained eidolon, I'm simply going to compare the strength of this eidolon to that of the other eidolon types.

Firstly, I'm simply guessing that this eidolon is neutral evil, as all eidolons now have a set alignment. The first, fourth, eighth and twentieth level advances all look perfectly equatable to other eidolon types. The twelfth and sixteenth level advances are what look a bit odd to me. Twelfth level is almost always a DR of some sort, and that is lacking entirely here. Then, the burrow speed, which IS an evolution, should be changed a bit. The entry for the three point evolution "burrow" reads that the eidolon that takes it would move at half speed while burrowing, not base land speed. It's simply a bit too fast.

Sixteenth level is errant in its phrasing. You write that the eidolon has immunity to AND a +4 bonus against mind-affecting effects. One or the other has to be chosen. I'd say that the +4 would be more balanced, as I can cite an eidolon with a bonus against mind-affecting effects but not one with full immunity to them.

Good luck with your eidolon! Cheers!
