Hi. I am currently working on a multitude of different fan projects, you may or may not be familiar with my attempt to create a D20 Tron roleplaying game, or my attempt to do a Pathfinder conversion of Shadowrun.
Currently, I am working on something else altogether, and I wanted some help doing some world building for my non-canon, non-profit project; it takes place in the Golarion setting, but is actually a "parody" of a series of videogames that I enjoy very much. Here is the overall plot that I came up with:
By combining technology and magic to create high-speed vehicles and massive-but-intricate construction projects, they have just introduced the Early-Industrial societies of the Inner Sea region to Anti-Gravity racing, and everyone wants a piece of the action.
Before I can flesh out my idea any further though, I wanted to know as much as possible about the politics, lore and factions of the Inner Sea region, like why each participating faction of the Pathfinder Society would want to establish a team to compete, or how it would affect the overall development of society within the Inner Sea Region, particularly in Absalom. (And also, why the Technic League wants to gain control of Absalom in the first place.)
For all of that, I need help from the Paizo community. I am an avid player of Pathfinder Society, but I am not too experienced when it comes to the actual Golarion fluff.

Well, there is the Starstone. Who wouldn't want control of a stone that can make you a god. Absalom is also one of the most important Trade-cities in Golarion, so if they want to spread technology, that would be a good place to start.
As for why the society wants to enter: An important, historical artefact is the price. That should gain their attention.

Well, nobody knows the Technic League's true motives (they don't announce that they want to control Absalom, or that they want the Starstone, but the Society might want to run undercover investigations anyway), because almost nobody in Absalom knows who they actually are except for a select few.
The different sub-factions of the PFS would all compete for their own reasons, most likely... And even the Aspis Consortium might want a piece of the technological pie that is Anti-Gravity (they could create low-altitude attack aircraft to fight the Pathfinder Society)! Obviously though, the Aspis Consortium would have to use an alias "organization" to compete.
While a majority of the teams' vehicles might be primarily magic/alchemy powered and/or pseudo-steampunk, they would have to be retrofitted with small samples of tech provided by the Technic League, such as the Anti-Gravity systems, computer/weapon systems, shields, life support, etc... The Technic League ships would be much less patchwork/frankenbuilt though, being almost entirely technology-based.
Here is my primary inspiration;

Obviously, this whole project is a "parody" of WipEout (not really a parody because it isn't supposed to be funny, but rather very dark in general)
I imagine the Grand Lodge playing a similar roll to Mirage, Dark Archive being AG Systems, The Exchange being Qirex, and so on... Maybe not in terms of gameplay or appearance, but definitely in terms of personality. But since everyone here has more experience than I do with the Pathfinder/Golarion setting, you might be able to come up with better fits.
Here is the rough, hopefully relatively accurate synopsis of each PFS faction;
Andoran (now known as Liberty's Edge) -- Stereotypical colonial/civil war era Americans. Kill the slavers. Chaotic Good as frak, and practically all Rogues, Gunslingers and Swashbucklers.
Osirion (now known as Scarab Sages) -- Lostek Arifacts, lostek artifacts everywhere. Knowledge of the past will prepare us for the future.
Grand Lodge: The founding fathers of the Pathfinder Society, and essentially the "Starfleet Academy" / "Wolves Dragoons" of the whole operation.
Shadow Lodge (now known as the Dark Archive) -- "The Pathfinder Society means well but is being selfish in their methods, and they should be made into a force for good. Maybe we can work under the radar, using unorthodox tactics, and pretend we're the Pathfidner Society. Also, we must preserve and catalogue all information, and we must run experiments to make the world a better place."
Picture The Society from Battletech, except they're good guys instead of bad guys.
Qadira, aka The Exchange: Overtel/Qirex/Comstar, but slightly less evil and slightly less powerful.
Sovereign Court: A covert version of the European Union/Soviet Union/United Nations/NATO/United Federation of Planets/Republic of the Sphere/Federated Commonwealth/U.N. Spacy. Need their help? You don't call them, they'll call you.
Sczarni: Old school mercenaries.
Cheliax: The Lawful Evil arch nemises of both Taldor and Liberty's Edge. They're slave-trafficing tailholes, but they play by the rules.
Taldor: They started out powerful, then lost their power. Now they work through turning their enemies against eachother, and they get along well with Liberty's Edge.
Lantern Lodge: The Ninja/Samurai/Clanners; full of Kitsune, Tengu, Nagaji and sympathetic demihumans.

Aspis Consortium: Among the bad guys, though not quite as bad as you'd at first expect. They like snakes, and they hate Pathfinders. To avoid unwanted attention, they use enter the competition under a different name.
Technic League: They horde technology, partly because they're selfish and partly because they think that everybody else are idiotic barbarians who will just screw themselves over if they got their hands on lasers and computers. They're also bad guys.
