Pregens and Core

I think I already know the answer to one of these, but I might as well make sure.

At an upcoming convention, the only scenario that I haven't already played is Core. I have no interest in building or maintaining Core characters.

1) If I play a pregen (I have to, as I have no characters of appropriate level), can I apply it to a non-Core character, or is it wasted?

2) If I play a scenario in Core, am I wasting my one "play" of that scenario, or can I still play it for real?

I don't want to spend half the day at this con all alone and far from home; the last time that happened, I had to go hide until I could get picked up. But I also don't want to waste something good.

1) You have to apply it to a Core character, as the entire table needs to be reported the same way. However, once you apply any non-Core chronicle to a character, it stops being Core eligible. So you could create a Core character and apply the chronicle from the convention, then apply a non-Core chronicle to the same character, and now you have a non-Core character.

2) You are allowed one play of a scenario (excluding evergreens) in both Core and non-Core for credit, but obviously you can only get credit for any scenario once per character (just like the restricitons for playing and GMing).

I know Core isn't for everyone, but I do have to admit to having fun going through older scenarios (from date originally played) in Core. There are some scenarios I know I played, but I just can't remember them, as I was to new to PFS at the time to really get the backstory. Being able to run through them again (and for credit!) means I get to really grasp the storyline, and all it implies.

You also need to register a new character as a core character to receive credit.

You can't take advantage of level 1 rebuilding to rebuild into a non-core character.

Michael, I think you have that backward.

You can't level 1 rebuild a non-core character into a core character. But I am pretty sure you can switch a character from core to non-core, then rebuild.

Also, it looks like you actually need to play the character in standard to convert it. That is possibly unintended but the guide says "play" not "receive credit for".

Hmmm....

So, if you have 2XP, you can play a 3rd game non-core, and then retrain into non core.

Or if you go to 3XP core, you can GM a non-core game, apply the chronicle. The character still has not been played at second level (especially if it is a pregen credit baby, it hasn't even been built) so it can still be rebuilt.

If it is unintended, it should be fixed.

I think, that GMs should be free to transfer their unformed GM blobs into the regular PFS campaign, since any limits that apply to core, really don't apply on the GM side.

If it does not create reporting issues, allowing GMs to apply CORE GM chronicles to characters in the regular campaign might motivate players to try GMing.
