PACG on Tabletop Simulator?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

So I know people have made mods for Tabletop Simulator for PACG and they are good. Has Paizo considered teaming up with Berserk Games to bring an offical version of the game to Tabletop Simulator?

I know I'd pay for the actual mod as opposed to using the workshop mods but I'm curious on what the rest of the community here things.

Seems unlikely considering Obsidian's officially licensed Pathfinder Adventures tablet version of it is nearly out.

I see. It is exciting to hear that it is in electronic form but I dislike the idea of it being on mobile, a platform I almost never play games on.

Bug Obsidian to release it on your chosen OS. (My tablet is Windows, for example, so the upcoming release doesn't do much for me either.)

They've not said explicitly what other platforms they plan to release the game for, but they have said that they're planning to release the electronic game to other platforms. I find it hard to believe they won't do PCs.

Eventually. Obsidian wanted to try to make a tablet program, so iOS and Android were the first choises, but They seem to be interesting in making Also the PC version eventually.
It should be relatively easy to port this kind of game to different platform because this is not a first Person shooter, where craphic engine has to be a state of the art quality.
But we can not be sure if and when the PC-version will come out. Is there market for it?
Is suomennettu allready have put 100$ or more to the game and adventure packs is he willing to buy all those adventure packs again?
I am PC player my self, but I Also have a iPad so I am not so eager to put for example 120$ to full iPad versions with all 6 adventures and Also put another 120$ for PC version with all 6 adventures...
I can not be sure how Many of those who would like to get PC version Are getting the iOS or Android version, so it is hard to say how Many is buying the PC version if it comes out for example 2017..,

From what I've read, the base app will be free and include Perils of the Lost Coast (the AD0 introductory adventure). Given the pricing landscape of tablet/phone app games, Obsidian would need to be remarkably stupid to price the adventure decks at higher than $10 apiece, my guess is that the'll fall somewhere in the $5-7 range. I cannot find any information as to whether or not the character add-on deck will be a separate purchase or included with the game. I would also not be surprised to find a "season pass" option that gets you each new Adventure Deck as they're released for a slightly discounted price versus purchasing all 6 individually.

My guess is that Character Add-On is separate.

For a comparable in terms of scope, Sentinels of the Multiverse has slightly less replay value (but still a ton), and its expansions are $5 (mini expansions are $1). Base game is $10.

I'm expecting

$7 Character Add On
$10 Adventure
$55/60, maybe as low as $50/55, full AP bundle without/with the add-on deck

At those prices, I'd consider buying but only with a discounted AP bundle. If online MP gets added before I buy it, that becomes a solid yes.

I don't have anything specific to say here, but I will generally note that the fact that they're releasing Perils of the Lost Coast by itself demonstrates that they don't need to mirror the print product structure where they think another option better suits their needs.

In other words: just because *we* chose to make something fit into a 110-card box doesn't mean *they* have to be limited by that.

That is WAY too high. Cut each of those in half and you have something closer to what I'm sure will be the actual price.

That's quite possible TES. They don't have printing costs to recoup, and once they recoup the development cost it's basically profit forever.

Vic, maybe you can't answer, but are you also implying that the general selection of cards might be noticeably different? I'm already a little bugged that this is a different Runelords PACG than Runelords PACG, but I really hope that it isn't so far as to say that it's only the same in plot.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

I'm not implying that at all. As far as the card lists go, this blog from the end of November gives you a pretty good idea of how far things might depart from the printed game.

I'm just saying when it comes to how things are split up for sale, different constraints can lead to different results.

Sovereign Court

Ok cool. I just couldn't tell if you were only referring to card groupings, or what is in the game in general.

I guess "by adventure" just always seemed like the natural way to split it up.

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if the CAD isn't even an extra purchase.

Of course now you have me curious whether you were just saying that to make a point, or because it actually means something here :)

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I is tricksy that way.

And I can't help but hate how much I love you guys for it!

I suppose I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. I'm mainly interested in an electronic version because my group likes to play online when the weather or schedules don't allow us to meet at our normal time. Depending on how much it will cost us as a group I may or may not consider it over Tabletop Simulator.

I also don't think devs take Tabletop Simulator into consideration enough as the work to make the game there is actually pretty minimal, at least from a workshop perspective. Having it officially supported would be some extra revenue for very little work.

Sovereign Court

I'd rather have it be its own product, not just an add on for something else. If it does come to PC, I hope it's not for Tabletop Simulator or anything other programs like it.

When you do that, you are limited by the product you make the add-on for. When you make a standalone app / program, you have only your own limitations.

TTS has a really heavy footprint (I can't run it at any reasonable FPS on my computers right now), and doesn't really make it look any nicer compared to the Obsidian version of the game.

I tried out TTS a while back, it was so cumbersome I gave up.
