Just looking for some clarification. With the spell animate dead can you animate variant skeletons and zombies such as bloody or burning skeleton or fast or plague zombie?

You can not. But, you can join me and few others in pushing for a review of this option to try to get it legal.

Last I checked Bloody skeletons were completely legal but I am happy to be corrected...

Looking at the animate dead spell, there is no reference to the bloody skeleton, flaming skeleton, fast zombie, or plague zombie alternates; those appear in the Bestiary, which does not list those "sub-templates" as legal. By a strict reading, they're not available in the organized play campaign. However, I think there's a case to be made for them being added. I would like to make sure that the paizo.com community weighs in on the matter, too, so I encourage someone to create a thread in the organized play general discussion. That is also where I am more likely to look when I am at work and updating the documents.

Now, this quote is from the facebook PFS group, and thus not binding. But, it is very definitive.

Go ahead and necro the thread if you are interested in pushing for a review.

I've written a recommendation for allowing them before: link.

Plague would probably be problematic, as that could potentially endanger the party under certain circumstances, as could flaming (the aura covers everyone in a given radius).

I'm not sure about bloody or fast, though?

Plague and flaming would require a bit of care on both the Necromancer and his party's part.

Bloody and fast, though, make no changes that could endanger the party, other than the bloody master maybe requesting an hour's break to allow his skelly to come back to usable. Optional, so probably not a major issue.
