Bound Revelations

Rules Questions

So my players were bound up and one of the pcs was an Oracle. He wanted to use his energy body revelation to escape the bonds, but I was unsure he would be able to use it or not. If it were a spell with a somatic component, of course no, but I don't know that these revelations require any sort of spell casting or if they are just a sort of concentrate on them and they do their thing sort of thing.

So... which is it?

You look at those two letter abbreviations after each revelation. For the Energy Body revelation of the Life Mystery, the abbreviation is "Su", for supernatural abilitu. It happens that neither supernatural abilities nor spell-like abilities have any somatic components as most actual spells do, so activating that ability while bound is not an issue.

However, even though you look like a fire elemental, there is no mention that you become incorporeal or inflict any sort of damage on inanimate objects, so it would seem that you remain bound in that form. Since you do not acquire any new movement type, you might not even be able to move if your legs are bound.

oh, I assumed that since you move into other people's squares to heal them while in it that that meant you were incorporeal or something. good to know.

Energy body is much more useful for escaping something like paralysis or ending/suspending a poison effect. It wouldn't help you break out of bonds, though, unless you were bluffing someone with it somehow.
