That's what I did. Slayer didn't exist at the time.
Though I made him a URogue 3/Slayer 13 for Dex to damage. I didn't like his original build much. Con as his best stat, but no thought given to tanking? Everything about his character screams "POUND THEM WITH MY FISTS BATHE IN THE BLOOD RIP AND TEAR RIP AND TEAR" as his combat style but he's not built that way at all.
So I gave him Cornugon Smash to go with his Shatter Defenses, and the TWFing Feats.
