Well... i guess this is the kind of things i want to avoid... They're the same classes... anyway... the samurai is not part of the wuxia genre... and this is a class SO hard to adapt to PF... If we want to depict samurais and ninjas as in movies, we just need to make people with all vorpal weapons and battles are solved against foes in just one hit xD

Ok, i cannot answer that question because that Samurai is just a Cavalier archetype... So for me it is not that japanese flavored... except for the stuff you asked me to ignore...
They get a significant number of different abilities. Please tell me why one set of abilities is eastern and the other is not. If you can't, then isn't it possible that the idea of a class being Western or Eastern entirely within the mind of the person making a character with them? I could use a Ninja and make:
And whether or not I'm making a character in renaissance era Milan, or the back streets of Beijing, if I want to make someone who punches people and doesn't wear a shirt, I can use the Monk just fine. Just need a bit of creativity, and a lot of classes can work for you.

Well, ok, i got the point... The thing is... I was just thinking in some simple classes for the task that will not confuse the players... Easy rules, easy play, not slowing down things, not unnecessary complex rules.
Anyway, With all the stuff said here, I think the unchained monk and the kensai are the best things for the setting, reflavoring them a little as they did with the samurai from the cavalier, and making the jian a monk weapon and done. No more complexity.
As a side note, i was thinking why they based the Samurai in the Cavalier, when some others thought it should be based on the Paladin... but anyway... that's another topic...

Cause samurai means 'warrior of the noble class', it doesn't mean LG paragon of virtue.
Many samurai were total bastards. They just had to sort of follow the code of bushido, which is NOT a LG code...it's LN.
So, yes, samurai are DIRECTLY analogous to cavaliers...mounted soldiers, often of noble birth, sworn to a code of conduct, with signature weapons and gear that represents their class in society, sponsored normally by powerful personages to do battle in their name.
While you could certainly have a member of the samurai caste who was a paladin...a paladin places duty to the LG code of a paladin above loyalty to lord and family, which is a tremendous no-no in Oriental Society. Their superiors could never be sure where the true loyalties of such a 'good' man lay, and if he'd refuse an order because it would violate his code. Such men would likely be very popular with the lower classes, and sidelined while treated with careful respect by the powerful.

Kirth, just how much do all the rulebooks for Paizo weigh?
Heh. (No cheating with PDF's mind you)

I tried to check, but my scale is too small to stack them on without them falling over. When I packed to move a few years and many books ago, they filled two big blue tubs and required a dolly and two people to move and load.

Just the rulebooks? Impressive. I resorted to PDF's just because of moving requirements. I'll probably never buy a rulebook again just because I don't want to haul the damn things around.

Ah, sorry, no that was all of the books. Just the hardbacks probably wouldn't be too much to check. Maybe later when the kids settle down.

I can see the rationale for making the jian a finesse weapon, but I'm skeptical. Despite its flexibility and deftness, it is still primarily used to deliver cutting, falling blows, like a longsword or katana. The main thing is that it's not used to two-hand. Its traditional use suggests it could be a monk weapon; after all, the kama is really just a sickle.

You are right, i don't remember of seeing a jian being used two-handed... well, except for the two-handed jian, but the two-handed jian is, well, made for two-hands.
But i still think it is a monk weapon, but jian proficiency must be purchased with a feat or provided by an archetype.
