charm person doesn't allow for a new save each round, except for a command that Kavaki "...wouldn't ordinarily do." In case you're hoping for a save to end the effect. It also has a duration of 1 hour/level. I would suggest looking more into the "... Any act by you or your apparent allies that threatens the charmed person breaks the spell." part of the spell description.

@Milo: Whoops! And Ouidda's taken a move action to change her position, meaning she'll have to use the move action of her next turn to finish the spell. If it gets that far!
After she's moved Ouidda can't finish her spell, which takes longer to cast than she'd expected. Milo and Chyras recognize which spell Ouidda's about to cast.
I'll ignore the previous saves, because Ouidda's targets may change and it would be metagame-ish for you to know who'll make their saves against the sleep effect.
Will, Kavaki: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Chyras casts his signature spell, daze, on the charmed Kavaki. The spell takes effect, leaving Kavaki momentarily dazed.

Bah, have all sorts of options for things to do, and only one action with which to do them... and none of them involve blowing anything up, which saddens poor gnomes.
Milo utters a few angry curses in orcish, as Ouidda shifts her position to use Kavaki as cover. He moves forward some, careful to stay out of Kavaki's extended reach. In so doing however, he brushes momentarily against Roland and just for a moment the archer feels some of what the gnome feels almost constantly, as anger and rage surge up inside him.
Using my Touch of Rage spell-like ability bloodline power on Roland. He will have a +1 attack and damage for the rest of the round, as well as a +1 on any will saves he might have to make (morale bonuses all). Now that the monk is providing her cover, it might come in handy!

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Fail
Luckily with enough damage incoming to her this round, she will be unlikely to succeed on the concentration check next round to complete the spell!
With Kavaki dazed, Branson will double move to get around behind Ouidda.
I think I successfully moved myself on the google doc.

I'm a little lost here. I didn't see that Chyras made an attack roll for the daze on Kavaki, and subsequently, doesn't that meet the requirements to break the enchantment?
here's the will save if needed for the daze
will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
| StephNyan |
@Kavaki: Pardon for the confusion. I decided to roll your save to speed things up a bit.
Alanya attempts to charge just before Chyras moves, but the large chairs don't give her a straight line to charge. With a double move she's still able to reach Ouidda. (Moving through squares with chairs is fine with me, but those chairs are a bit too large to just charge through/over.)
As Milo gives Roland a boost, Branson also moves past Kavaki. He places himself in a flanking position with Alanya. If Ouidda doesn't switch to defensive casting on her turn, she'll have a big problem.

Roland steps 5' south and lines up another pair of arrows on Ouidda.
Also, assuming she is a normal human(oid) and not some sort of evil outsider, otherwise add 2 to every attack and damage
"Stand to zhe side, Kavaki...we do not want to hurt you by zhe accident. SHE is zhe one we want!"
Roland +1 Darkwood bow, bard, Rapid, cover: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 4 = 19 for dmg: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9
Roland +1 Darkwood bow, bard, Rapid, cover: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 4 = 22 for dmg: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9
| StephNyan |
She is indeed human.
Concentration DC22: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 4 = 14
It's already after Roland's first arrow hits her that Ouidda loses her concentration on the spell she's trying to cast. The second arrow hits Ouidda as well, barely leaving her standing.
Kavaki doesn't do anything, because he's dazed. At the end of his turn the effect of Chyras' spell wears off.
Cast defensively DC19: 1d20 + 7 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 4 + 4 = 35
Ouidda concentrates deeply, and casts another spell without provoking attacks from those next to her. This spell's specifically aimed at Branson.
Will DC17: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 She's not threatened or attacked anyone yet. Just used charm spells and tried to make you sleep.
Branson's affected by the spell, and is now also charmed by Ouidda.
Ouidda takes a 5-foot step away from Alanya, and retrieves a potion from one of her pockets. She then drops prone next to Branson so Roland won't see her behind the wet bar, even if he changes his position to aim past Kavaki.
"Take that archer's bow from him, new boyo!" Ouidda tells Branson.
Charisma: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Come on, Branson! You can beat that :)

Chyras is up now. Then Branson. Then Milo, Roland and Alanya can go in any order. Kavaki will close the line. So we've got 4 initiative groups, but it's all you until Ouidda's up again.
@Branson: I rolled your Will save so I could finish Ouidda's turn and move things forward, but I'll leave the opposed Charisma roll to you ;)
@Alanya: A 5-foot step toward Ouidda won't work, because the corner of the wet bar prevents you from just walking through that square.

Ah - sorry Milo - missed the rage part. I read and posted quickly since I knew I was holding up the show.

eep, healing her?! Son of a....
Actually, I don't think you succeeded on the opposed check Branson... in which case you'd have to do what she asked. When there's a DC, its equal or greater... but if its an opposed check, you have to actual exceed it (equal to is not enough)
If the result of your skill check is equal to or greater than the difficulty class (or DC) of the task you are attempting to accomplish, you succeed. If it is less than the DC, you fail. Some tasks have varying levels of success and failure depending on how much your check is above or below the required DC. Some skill checks are opposed by the target's skill check. When making an opposed skill check, the attempt is successful if your check result exceeds the result of the target.
The bolded bit at the end. Admitedly, this is an opposed ability check, not a skill check, but I'd have to assume the rules are the same *shrug*. Though you healing her is much more interesting =)

Can I speak when its not my turn? Would like to recommend Chyras (and Alanya) hold a moment til after Milo.
"Ya barmey nobbler!" Milo exclaims, enraged, as Branson starts healing Ouida. "Chyras, you and the twist, hang a tick! Granny I can free a lurk." He growls towards the summoner.
The young gnome reaches to his neck, one hand going around the amulet hanging there, as he concentrates and utters some more arcane words.
Using his arcane bond to cast a spell directly from my spellbook... in this case Reduce Person... which automatically dispels enlarge person, and will put the monk back at a more manageable non-reach size.
Not sure how one decides which square he shrinks down into however.... whatever it is, Alanya should no longer provoke moving to our target... assuming she waits =)
Milo then hurries towards the bar, along the northern wall.

Wait a minute Branson, healing her is waaaay out of the question here. There is no reason to do that. You don't want us to fail this mission do you?
@Milo: Yes, short sentences can be spoken if not your turn.
Chyras isn't moving, so he will shoot his crossbow.
Alanya on the other hand, will hold until Milo's action has been done.
That should let me shoot and Kavaki be reduced and Alanya able to move.
*Insert elven insultive word for the woman*
Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Branson Davelock
|
Of course I don't want us to fail the mission. So she charmed me. And thus I view her as a "trusted friend and ally." Now, for the opposed CHA check, I was the "target." And so we both got 10s, and she did not "exceed the result of the target" so her order is not followed. However my healing a trusted friend and ally does not seem out of the ordinary here. Happy to get the GM's interpretation on this.
Milo Flamecursed
|
Ya, healing her is totally appropriate for a 'merciful healer' on his friend. =)
Unfortunately, it does mean we might fail our mission now, as we'll have to kill her to make him stop, whereas before we could have just knocked her out and taken her alive.... We might want to point that out to him...
Remember, although she's a 'friend' to the charmed folks... she still is a friend who is the Spider and did all these horrible things, including selling innocent folks into slavery and murdering the 2 guards out in the hallway. That does not mean you still won't turn her in, depending on your character's proclivities I suppose.
On the plus side... Kavaki still is following his orders to 'keep them away' from her... and Branson is still one of those 'them'... so if he does any of his combat maneuver stuff on branson, it should break the cleric's charm at least.
| StephNyan |
The only thing Pathfinder states on any kind of opposed check is "the attempt is successful if your check result exceeds the result of the target."
Ouidda's result did not exceeds her target's result. Meaning Branson's not doing what she asked, and just doing other things a trusted friend would do.
It depends on Kavaki's interpretation, but I believe "Keep them from getting close" doesn't suggest Kavaki should do anything against those who are already next to Ouidda.
Chyras either shoots or prepares to shoot a bolt in Ouidda's direction. He'll miss either way.
Branson ignores Ouidda's words, and instead heals her up.
Milo prepares the spell reduce person, and casts it on Kavaki.
Fort DC14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Kavaki fails his saving throw, and is reduced to his normal size.
Random roll to decide where Kavaki'll end up: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Milo then moves along the northern wall, while Roland prepares to shoot Ouidda when she comes within view.
Turn progression - round 4:
Milo

Roland - readied shot on Ouidda
Kavaki
Ouidda -27HP & Prone

Branson

Alanya's up.
@Roland: Could you make a post with your readied attack?
Kavaki Gossamar
|
we can go either way, since it probably won't make any real difference, but reduce person is a 1 round casting time. So, unless interrupted, Kavaki should stay large until next round?
I just figure since we called Ouidda out on a full round casting earlier, it seems fair to hold us to the same rule.
Milo Flamecursed

It depends on Kavaki's interpretation, but I believe "Keep them from getting close" doesn't suggest Kavaki should do anything against those who are already next to Ouidda.
This is not syntax and grammar parsing 401 to try to find loopholes. This is a friend asking another friend to keep people from getting close. 90% of the time, that means if you fail, and they do get close anyway, you would be trying to then get them away again. Remember, not mind control. But ya, would be how Kavaki wants to run with it.
On the plus side, Chyras has someone else to cast daze on again =)
| StephNyan |
I was so focused on the entire charm thing, I forgot to look at the duration of reduce person... Thanks for pointing that out!
With Kavaki still large, let's ignore Alanya's last post for now. (I see she's already been moved to her previous position.)
Alanya delays until Milo's spell takes effect. Milo decides to not move too far into the area threatened by Kavaki.
Turn progression - round 4:

Kaviki will 5' step right, within reach of Branson and Alanya. Then flurry with a trip at Branson and Alanya (Still trying to "Keep them away from me").
unarmed trip: Branson: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
unarmed trip: Alanya: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
If successful Kavaki will use Ki Throw to have Branson and Alanya land prone 2 squares left of Kavaki.
Since these are Kavaki's ally's he will not perform Vicious Stomp on them.
The special size modifier for a creature's Combat Maneuver Defense is as follows: Fine –8, Diminutive –4, Tiny –2, Small –1, Medium +0, Large +1, Huge +2, Gargantuan +4, Colossal +8. Some feats and abilities grant a bonus to your CMD when resisting specific maneuvers. A creature can also add any circumstance, deflection, dodge, insight, luck, morale, profane, and sacred bonuses to AC to its CMD. Any penalties to a creature's AC also apply to its CMD. A flat-footed creature does not add its Dexterity bonus to its CMD.
Determine Success: If your attack roll equals or exceeds the CMD of the target, your maneuver is a success and has the listed effect. Some maneuvers, such as bull rush, have varying levels of success depending on how much your attack roll exceeds the target's CMD. Rolling a natural 20 while attempting a combat maneuver is always a success (except when attempting to escape from bonds), while rolling a natural 1 is always a failure.
If I'm looking at it correctly, Branson's CMD is: 10 + 2 (BAB) + 1 (dex) - 1 (size: compared to Kavaki).
Should be a success on both. I'm move them, but feel free to move them back if I'm missing something that changes this.
| StephNyan |
According to the stats provided in their stat bars, it indeed works on both.
Kavaki nearly crushes the wet bar as he steps onto it, and trips both Branson and Alanya. He then throws both of them several feet away from him and Ouidda, on his other side.
CMW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6
Ouidda drinks the potion she holds, restoring her HP further. She then gets back up, feeling rather safe behind Kavaki's enlarged back.
Roland sees Ouidda stand up, and despite the cover provided by Kavaki he shoots an expertly aimed arrow that passes underneath Kavaki's enlarged arm and into Ouidda.

*Milo, on your turn, could you roll a random 1d4 to determine where Kavaki ends up? The positions are as follows:
1 2
3 4
---
No harm was done or even intended by Kavaki, but I can understand if Branson would feel threatened by being tripped and tossed 25 feet away. Just imagine someone do that to you :S
Though I don't think Kavaki qualifies as an 'apparent' ally, because he's an 'actual' ally... But Kavaki and Branson were together in camp 'we like Ouidda,' and Branson (after healing Ouidda) was still tossed away by Kavaki...
I can see this go both ways. Which is why I'm leaving it up to Branson's interpretation.

OK, I have to say it... but Ki Throw looks like a ton of fun! Especially when enlarged! I'm just picturing all these people getting tossed around the room. You moved them 25'! Its very cinematic.
Chyras will go first... but then it will be Milo's go and I can't imagine anything he does will change what the gnome will do... so going to post it now, and go to bed!
One hand clutching the amulet around his neck with a trembling white-knuckled fist, Milo finally completes his spell.
As the magic spreads out, he screams angrily, "Enough!"
"That's bloody enough from the lot of you nobblers!" He continues, as the magic that has enlarged Kavaki disperses almost instantly and the Tian man shrinks back down to his original size, his potion dispelled.
Random Square: 1d4 ⇒ 3 edit: bottom left corner!
The small gnome continues to stalk forward along the wall, almost trembling with barely controlled rage.
"That carked blower's been opening throats and throwin' innocents to slavers, for months! And you two wanna start dabbin' it up with her?!" He shouts in disgust.
"Don't care if she's sharped yer heads and is leadin' you around like a bunch a barmey prads." He pushes a chair out of his way as he goes, angrily swatting at the furnishings as he passes. "Don't give two thick 'uns if you granny she's some fawney swag. She can't drive ya that hard. You're still you. Ya know what she's on the books for. We're wantin' to take her breathin' to the rozzers ta serve her laggin' dues." He reaches the end of the bar and glares at the woman in question.
"But, keep makin' this harder, she goes home in a box." He growls, almost a promise.
The words that come after are almost screamed, but any meaning is lost as seems to have switched languages to draconic. They do end with some arcane gestures, however, as a huge gout of flame suddenly fills the area behind the bar, engulfing Dorianna and blowing back against the far wall.
Heh, I notice no one else can speak draconic... so saved me having to come up with some good lines here. =) But if you could speak it, I assure you, they would have been awesome!

'Since Kavaki shrunk, Chyras moves forward'
I will assume this means Chyras delays until Milo's turn has been.
Branson tries to get closer to his buddy Ouidda, but Kavaki is being a bit of a bully to him and doesn't let Branson get closer. It's entirely justified from Kavaki's perspective, though. (It somehow feels like I created a love triangle.)
Ref DC15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Kavaki shrinks back to his normal size when Milo finished his spell. Milo then quickly moves closer to Ouidda to set her on fire, like any proper pyromaniac would do. Ouidda dodges some of the flames, but still takes a lot of damage. "Ouch! Ouch! Ooouuuch!"
Chyras then moves closer to Ouidda, and casts daze on her. Ouidda is entirely unaffected by the cantrip, and gives Chyras a confused look when he addresses her.
Before she gets a chance to reply to what Chyras said, two of Roland's arrows pierce Ouidda's heart. Blood drips out of Ouidda's mouth as she exhales her last breath, and she drops to the floor.
Combat's over!
The others were here just to distract Ouidda :P
Now what did Ouidda try to achieve by coming here?
