can a eldrich guardian's familiar use a wand?

Can a eldrich guardian's familiar use a wand?
Maybe with umd?
If not, does he qualify for the "improved familiar" feat?
And even if he does can he pick up a improved familiar sense he has no caster level?
Just trying to find a way to make a familiar useful to a fighter.

An Eldritch Guardian's familiar has the same ability as any other familiar to use a wand: That is, not really. It's not a spellcaster, and would need to use UMD in any case. On top of that, a regular familar can't speak, and the one who can (the Raven) doesn't have the hands to manipulate the wand.

An Eldritch Guardian has an "effective wizard level", which is what Improved Familiar is really asking for, so he can take the feat.

What he's supposed to do, though, is take the Mauler familiar archetype and use his familiar as a kind of fighting animal companion.

I was thinking about having it in a backpack using a cure wand every round kind of like a fast healing effect. Expensive but handy.

I've never heard of familiar archetypes before. What book are they in?

Familiar Folio, iirc.
