Summon Eidolon Ability Question.

Rules Questions

What type of ability is Summon Eidolon?
Would it be considered a spell like ability similiar to the spell summon eidolon except in ritual form?
Are rituals considered spells?
If so would it be like summon monster since the summon monster (SP) says that it works just like the summon eidolon ability?

It's unspecified whether it is supernatural or spell-like, but it is not the summon eidolon spell, Augmented Summoning does not work and the eidolon is not a spell effect visible to detect magic (if you'd like to specify why you're asking, no doubt we can better address your intention). I would assume a "ritual" provokes AoO but not that it is a spell for any other particular purpose.

The reason I am asking is because the Summon Monster I (SP) states "Drawing upon this ability uses up the same power as the summoner uses to call his eidolon." and we all know that summon monster I is School conjuration (summoning) so I wanted to know if I would be able to use the Genie Caller trait which states "Once per day, you may cast one conjuration (summoning) spell as if your caster level were 2 higher than normal."

Right now it is a GM call and we play with a group that has level 2-6 PCs with everybody being on different XP charts (higher levels are slow where lower levels are fast track).

I guess my biggest question would be whether or not the ability would be considered a conjuration (summoning) spell. Yes i know it is a ritual however rituals are still spells.

Yes I know that this would be considered a little OP however it feels similar to the monks robe that allowed The wearer’s AC and unarmed damage to be treated as a monk of five levels higher. The only difference is that it is a 1/day ability vs an item.

Thoughts?

Thanks, it's very helpful to know. The Summon Monster class ability is a spell-like ability and therefore not a spell.

So your saying that genie caller won't work with the eidolon? :(

Genie caller would not work with the ritual.

You could use Genie caller on the spell of summon eidolon - the second level spell that brings your eidolon for minutes per level (and also is affected by feats and metamagic feats).
