Looking into starting a new Card Guild at a LFG

So this weekend during a promo event here in the Netherlands and have to say I really loved it. Never thought I would like it, but what do you know :) I decided to get the Wrath boxed set (screwed up on buying the RotRL non mint version :( =)

So after that I decided to see my LFG and see for any interest in it since they are pretty heavy into Card Games (trying to get Society of the ground as well and it is a painful process at times...)

So I am wondering what is going to be the best way to get the Guild going there and garner interest? I am going to do a Demo type of game with the owner on Thursday and hopefully get more people involved.

On the other side, I am considering to start the solo play for the card guild in the store, what would be the best char (most challenging) to do it with Wrath so that I can order that deck for it.

Any more advice overall would be nice!

Happy you enjoyed it! I suspect one of our PFS venture officers will jump in with some great advice, but in the meantime if you check this list here it appears there are 4 VOs working in the Netherlands that might be worth talking to, though I don't know how far any of them are from you. They may all be focused on the RPG, not the ACG, but it's possible that they might have some ideas, could put the store in touch with demo product, etc.

For a solo run through SotR*, I suspect that WotR Seelah with the paladin deck is an excellent pick. Merisiel (CD Rogue) might also be a good pick, with the ability to evade certain banes. Lini (CD Druid) is an excellent solo-er as well, though her ability to make several combat checks in one round is not as good.

Good luck!

* Which is a grand feat indeed! You'll need to bring a character that can survive all the normal banes and also output enough to take out nasties like Khorramzadeh toe to toe.

I know all the VO's and they are indeed focused on the RPG section (I am slowly going to try and start the card game up). The store is already working together with Paizo due to Society and we are going to hope to put the game on the map as well with me playing it :)

What do you mean with CD Rogue? I have seen some of the CD terms and haven't figured out what it means :)

I will see if I can grab the Paladin class deck as well, have the monk deck incoming (since I si

I will check with the store to see if they have signed up for the PACG demo product or not (they are going to gauge for interest as well with their CCG players) hence why I am going to aim for a solo run and hope to get attention from people :)

Sounds good. By CD I meant Class Deck.

I will say, if you already have the monk coming, I'm sure that Sajan can cut a pretty hefty path, even if I'm not quite as sure he'll make it to the very end. It'd still be a heck of a cool run :)

Guess I will give it a go with one of the Monks and/or Seelah :)

Will be a good fun run I am sure and see how far I will get

Psyblade, you should get the free downloads of the various character sheets here as well as the guild guide here. These will help with the organized play questions and character bookkeeping.

As you might have read on these boards or not, you can play certain characters from the AP sets with the appropriate class deck. So when Keith mentioned WotR Seelah, we does mean the character and role from Wrath of the Righteous but played with the paladin class deck (as opposed to the CD Seelah that is included). Options like that are explained in the guild guide.

If you have any questions about guild/organized play, we're here to help.

I have those guild guide downloaded. So if I understand it correctly...

Before I can start playing I will need one of the class decks (like the Monk that is coming towards). And for the Seelah one, I will need to get the Paladin Class Deck before I can start playing. Correct?

Or can I use all the info from the Seelah from WotR and then play?

Even if the VC is focused on the RPG side, VCs are supposed to be at least knowledgable in both. If you're already going to be running the game at your store, you may want to apply to be a card game Venture Agent, at least that way you can get the scenarios without having to ask the store every time, and in addition you'll have your store be available online and so people can search for it when they want to play card game. I'm sure the VC will appreciate the data points about the card game being played.

Since you can't take cards out of the base set when you're playing, the Class Decks are for your actual deck when you play. You can use the Seelah from WotR, but you'll still need the Paladin class deck.

Yeah I understand Zeroth, first gotta see if we can get enough interest in it to see how things go (I will most likely demo it once or twice) Once that is going on I can expand it (And I will most likely be an Agent already for Society as well, so it is double edged for me :) )

Thanks for the info about the deck, guess I will need to wait a bit till I can start running it then to either get the Monk or find the PLD deck

To play season of the righteous in the official manner, with record sheets and going to conventions, and all that, you need a class deck, yes.

If you're just doing demos of the game to gather up interest, you can totally just play it solo with the Wrath base box.

The primary benefit of the class decks and guild method is that you can take your character with you when you leave the store, go to other stores, and the base box can pack up and be ready to play for anyone else; whether that's an AD1 this week, AD4 next week, etc. It's a good way for maintaining sanity.

If you're just starting, primarily want to play with yourself to start, playing it the normal way is totally fine. :)
