Buying items when you only play online.

Online Play

I'm pretty new to PFS, and my understanding is that you can only buy items with a GM present. That being said, when should I buy new items when I only play online? I don't want to waste play time at the beginning of the session and, because of my current time zone, it's often early morning when a session finishes.

You should have an e-mail for your GM (or at least some text way of contacting them). If there are non-mundane purchases you want to make, you can e-mail them or type them in before or after the scenario. Some online GMs will trust players to make the appropriate notes on their sheets, which works fine if you don't plan on playing in person much. Just don't start cheating, since there's no fun to that and people will ask questions.

This was never really enforced to begin with, and became completely outdated with the introduction of the inventory tracking sheet. Pay it no mind.

Pretty much what he said. When I am running online I normally ask at the start of a session if anyone wants to buy anything. I leave players to note their purchase on their own chronicle sheets/ITS.

Welcome to PFS Faero. :)

A GM still has to sign the chronicle that X gold was spent. I find it easiest to make a list of things to purchase between sessions and have the GM sign it at the beginning of the next scenario. It is frequent that some scrolls, potions, etc will be more helpful in some scenarios than others and those purchases will be made at that time as well. Keep in mind this is true for real-time tables as well as online. :)

Thanks everyone. So the basic jist I'm getting is that I should make a list of what I want to buy, and send it to my GM before the session starts. That way they can put it on my chronicle sheet. Or I can write the information on my own sheet and send that to the GM to sign.

The amount of gold spent should be included on the chronicle, but the individual purchases should be on an Inventory Tracking Sheet, often abbreviated to ITS (included in this download).

If all your PFS play is online, you might find this Google Docs version more useful than the PDF.

And this is why i don't fill in that part of the sheet at all....
