5e - Two different types of Darkvision?

4th Edition

I've noticed that there are two sets of rules for Darkvision.

First, races that gain Darkvision can see in darkness as if it were dim light and can see in dim light as if it were bright light.

Second, in Chapter 8, Darkvision is described as seeing in darkness as if it were dim light, but says nothing about seeing in dim light as if it were bright light.

Is there an accidental omission in chapter 8, or do races with natural Darkvision just get a better version than Darkvision granted through a spell or from a school specialization (or something else)?

I'm just guessing here, but one of the primary design goals of 5E seems to be simplifying things. So there should probably be only one version of darkvision.

I am with SmiloDan on this. Note that the bestiary section of the free pdf also describes darkvision as allowing to treating dim light as bright light. It's probably accidental omission from the Chapter 8.

Yeah, that's my guess, too. But I wanted to bring it up to see what others thought.
