A Disable Device related question.

Homebrew and House Rules

If this is in the wrong place please move it.

I would like to know if a circumstance bonus stacks with a competence bonus.

For example, would the +2 from Masterwork Thieves' Tools stack with the +5 competence bonus of Trapspringers' Gloves.

Here is the write up on the gloves.

These studded leather gloves look similar to workman’s gloves, though they are reinforced with numerous metal strips that the user can extend or retract as she wills, turning the tip of each finger into a customizable tool useful in examining and disarming traps. While worn, these gloves grant a +5 competence bonus on all Disable Device checks made to disarm traps. In addition, the gloves grant the user a +1 luck bonus on all saving throws made against traps.

Yep, only bonuses of the same type don't stack

Let me ask this. Would you allow a 6th level Rogue or qualified Disabler of traps to combine those two bonuses?

As long as the bonus is a different type they always stack unless it specifically states otherwise. Since one gives a circumstance bonus and the other a competence bonus they stack period. It does not matter what class or level you are.

As long as you are able to make the roll you can use any bonus. Disable device is a trained only skill so if you do not have at least one rank in the skill you cannot make the roll. This has nothing to do with bonuses stacking.

Some bonuses stack even with like bonuses. Dodge bonuses for example stack with everything even other dodge bonuses. This will be detailed in the type of bonus.
