There have been a lot of people asking about when the next expansion for Spheres of Power will be published, but all my time is currently being spent on Skybourne. Clearly the answer is to bring other people in.
We have hired a lot of freelancers to do a series of Handbooks expanding each of the 20 spheres, which at a rate of one handbook per month, is a project we're fully-intending to take almost two years to finish. To get this off the ground and to help us pay for such a elongated investment, we've also started a Patreon. Backers will get playtesting documents, input on the artwork and potential chapter-starting stories, and of course copies of everything before anyone else.
I have loved the support Spheres of Power has been getting, and with this I hope to be able to bring more content to people at a much, much faster rate. Thanks to everyone who checks it out.
And now, back to writing...

Spheres is the magic system I use when running pathfinder now. Very happy to be able to support your work!
I'm almost at this point. I'm at the stage where I'm starting to convert third party spellcasters into spherecasters. I do have a few questions;
1) Roughly how big are the handbooks going to be? At $5 a month with them coming out at about one a month I imagine they're 25-30 page books.
2) How soon will the first one be out. I only just started making a patreon account and I'm already jonesing.
3) Given the descriptions does this mean that the 20 spheres will remain 20 spheres or will there be more spheres in the future?

I think the Patreon page announced ~25 pages per book. They might be making new spheres, and what the readers want to see will probably be a major factor in deciding at least some of the supplements to make.
And... I definitely understand the feeling of wanting to replace other forms of magic, though I prefer to have Spheres as an additional option at my tables, not a total replacement. XD As I mentioned in my review of the product, the Spheres of Power system is significantly better than I expected.
(In all honesty, I was expecting an easily-forgettable piece of junk that few of the backers would ever end up using, and I backed the initial campaign mostly for fun and as a secondary source of ideas for personal writing. I have rarely been happier to have been proven wrong, so I, too, am backing this new effort. ^^ I want to see where else this system can go.)
